[edit] Everybody ... right now ... make out a living will. Unless you'd prefer the fate of this poor woman. [edit]

But then a bunch of random people wouldn't be able to impose their will on the situation.
One man offered ten million dollars for Michael Schiavo to sign over power of attorney to her parents; another offered a million. surreal

I can't believe that this is still going on.

My only question for her parents would be are they doing this for her sake or for theirs?

Wow...Florida must have no other pertinent issues going on right now. If lawmakers are able to rush into session for this particular issue...Florida must be kicking some serious ass right now...no crime, no corruption, prisons running efficiently, infrastructure running at 100%....

I posted commentary in my journal today about it. I also have links that will guide you to writing your Congress person. Please I urge you to take the time to do so before they can pass bill H.R. 1332 through and start making more decisions for others.

No, Florida has a Christian governor with an agenda. For religious fundamentalists, this case sets a precedent that could be very important in future attempts to blur the line between church and state. This IS a pertinent issue.

The thing that pisses me off the most are the carefully edited and staged screencaps of her that make it look as if she's responding to people or expressing emotion.

You are so right on that one. It is very pertinent and the implications are going to be huge if the bills they are trying to pass do indeed go through. *shudder*

Thank you for saying something about that. I noticed that earlier when I was reading up on this and thought it was rather odd. More bias?

biggest fucking waste of time. She is fucking brain death hence her vegetative state. It gets me all piss off to think that this moronic governor in Florida and damn religious conservatives in the House think otherwise when every doctor says she is in an irreversible state .

Another hipocracy here is that these conservatives advocates for states's rights and less federal involvement but when they don't get their way , they throw their beliefs out of the window and say that the state is wrong and the federal goverment has to step in.

**Exclusive Fri Mar 18 2005 00:50:07 ET** The Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pension (HELP) Committee, Mike Enzi (R-Wyoming) has requested Terri Schiavo to testify before his congressional committee, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned. In so doing it triggers legal or statutory protections for the witness, among those protections is that nothing can be done to cause harm or death to this individual.

Members of Congress went to the U.S. Attorney in DC to ask for a temporary restraining order to be issued by a judge, which protects Terri Schiavo from having her life support, including her feeding and hydration tubes, removed... Developing...

Make up those living wills and powers of attorneys kids, unless you want to be like the meatscicle in the middle.
Oddly, feeding tubes get yanked all the time, this one just made the news and attracted the flies (politicians) because of the fight with the parents.

The House is actually planning on subpeoning Terri Schiavo to "save" her life. Story here: http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/03/18/schiavo.brain-damaged/index.html

If you weren't sure that the "pro-life" movement wasn't full of psychos before, you probably are now.

No, her awful parents will try to interpret one of her involuntary twitches or a fart as her trying to say "I want to live!" and this continues on.

14 years ... FOURTEEN YEARS ... she has been "living" like this. Can you imagine?

Her parents really need to let go ... maybe buy a puppy. OK, that was wrong, but you know what I mean.

And if you're thinking, well, I'm only 26 years old (or whatever), why do I need a living will, the stroke/cardiac arrest that put Schiavo in this state happened when she was 26.

I'm writing mine up as soon as I can. And I've already made it clear to my immediate family that I don't want to just linger on as a vegetable.
