I think shooting garbage into the sun would be more useful, anyways.

Now what do they expect to do about the LAKES of gases?

I wish they'd stop all of this poking around and messing with shit in space.

If bad horror movies have taught me anything, it's not to send probes into fucking black holes and to start melting shit on Mars.

If a closet, attic, or cave is likely to produce something that'll bite you - why roll the dice on a boogeyman or space bear?

Same goes for the ocean. Let's not look there either.

Goddam scientists. Don't they make people read Lovecraft in college?

I think you are talking about Titan, the second biggest moon in the solar system. Mars doesn't have any lakes

*sigh* By the time we'd really be able to put this project into motion we'd also be able to set up huge, livable satillites in the same orbit as the Earth.
It is neither wrong nor right, it's just not neccessary yet.

I think, if anything, we'll be using it to mine for certain materials that asteriods do not provide. But even that will be short term (read- the next 2 or 3 centuries).

I haven't read the books mentioned above me- are they long?

not to be a geek or anything but we shouldn't sent our garbage to the Sun, if we do that we will run out of resources soon . After all, we don't have an unlimited supplied of resources and recycling either naturally or artificially is what replenish the resources we used.

To quote Hawkwind...

Shoals of dead fish float on the lakes
but Uncle Sam's on Mars
and Science is making the same mistakes
but Uncle Sam's on Mars
and no one down here knows how to work the brakes
but Uncle Sam's on Mars!
