That's great. Is that the only place that is legal so far? I figure it's going to be legal almost everywhere eventually, except for Alabama.

To be clear, this isn't New York doing it. It's a COURT in New York doing it. There's NO New York legislation permitting it.

Someimes I think that the two US coasts should get together and annex themselves away from the rest of the US. We could call it "Liberalania", or "Cool, Open-MInded Land", or soemthing. But yeah. Go NY!

Well it won't be legal in the 11 states that pased constitutional amendments declaring that marriage is only between a man and a woman this past November. And if our home grown christian fundamentalists have their way and a federal amendment is passed saying the same thing that you can kiss even this small measure of progress goodbye.

i've never weighed in on the gay marriage issue on CE before, but here comes my $0.02. i wouldn't call myself that much of a gay marriage proponent. however, with all of the real problems that are going on in the world, the issue of who people in america want to marry is about as important to me as regulating the shade of yellow that we use to paint the lines on our roads. other peoples' sexuality bores me. plus, my inner republican doesn't like the thought of the government regulating things such as marriage.

Let me try it again.

1. NEW YORK DIDN'T LEGALIZE GAY MARRIAGE.

2. ONE lower court judge sitting in New York said it can't be made illegal.

3. Even that Judge stayed enforcement of the order pending appeal -- so as of right now gay marriage is STILL illegal in New York.

4. Just so you know, I'm (very) pro-gay marriage. I just don't think you should give credit where it isn't due. Praise the judge, but don't praise my state. We don't deserve it.

this is true. we'll have to see how the appeals go...which, in my opinion, probably won't be good. but hell...i can still be hopefuly. or do my best to be. smile

there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to vote
there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to go the school of their choose'n
there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to eat/drink/even sit with people not of their own minority
there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to marry anyone outside of their own minority
i thought we'v come a long way since those times
but now we just have a new minority to pick on i guess
how are these people hurting/threatening your way of life by just wanting the same rights as u....i dont understand it at all
people are just people....fuck;gay/straight/black/white/rebublican///whatever
life/liberty/and the pursuit of happines(for the selected few, i guess)

He's saying with all the killin' goings on the Government should not waste it's time telling people who they can and cannot marry.

Didn't the Onion have a headline like this? Something like "Massachusetts Supreme Court Orders All Citizens to Gay Marry"? Ah, that still makes me laugh.

WEREN'T. everyone can now, though.
and?

there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to go the school of their choose'n

didn't they open an ALL gay school in NY? funny, i could never find that "all punk" school, and i can't even seem find (unless you are talking serious cash, and religious based) that all white one.
next.

there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to eat/drink/even sit with people not of their own minority

don't compare the two, gay people can eat where ever they like. oddly enough, they weren't forced to the "all gay" section, like blacks were. they segregated themselves and opened all gay clubs, hotels, beaches, bars, etc... segregating youself will only further homophobia by not exposing others to the the fact that gay people are like everyone else. if they are never around gays they are left to believe the stereotypes they have earned

there were times when CERTAIN MINORITIES werent aloud to marry anyone outside of their own minority

but now they can.
why? do gay people want to marry outside thier minority? confused

i thought we'v come a long way since those times

we have... where have you been?

but now we just have a new minority to pick on i guess

and "white trash" and southerners, and red-necks, and republicans (all totally asseptable, on this site, and in general). not to mention fat people, retards, religion of any kind, priests, punks, goths, emo-kids, etc... whatever

how are these people hurting/threatening your way of life by just wanting the same rights as u....i dont understand it at all
people are just people....fuck;gay/straight/black/white/rebublican///whatever
life/liberty/and the pursuit of happines(for the selected few, i guess)

the selected many, actually. but i get your point.

life liberty and the pursuit of happiness? the only one that applies is "pursuit of happiness"... does happiness depend on a piece of paper? i thought marriage was a RESULT of happiness, not the cause. (notice it does not guarentee "happiness" but, "the pursuit of happiness". )

if buisness stood up, like some have, and offered benifets and such, this would be an easier fight. i think it shouldn't even be an issue (meaning: a government issue), but since it is, we vote, and in a democracy.... well, you know the rest.

sorry about the rant people,,,this is just a subject that gets to me,,,i have a lot of gay friends, and friends with gay parents, etc.

i have alot of gay friends too... so.

i don't think is sould be illegal... but i dont think it should be legal either...
it shouldn't be anything at all. there should just be a standard way to legally determin "spouses", for legal purposes, (benifets, taxes, etc). and "marriage" should simply be a private and non-legally-binding show of love.

Oh, you were right in trying to make him look like a bad guy. He's as awful as they come. And he comes a lot.
