These people are so full of shit. Seriously.
BBC: US right attacks SpongeBob video

Focus on the Family and other groups say the video - a remake of the Sister Sledge hit, We Are Family - is a vehicle for pro-gay propaganda.

The video's makers plan to mail it to US schools in the spring to promote tolerance and diversity.

But James Dobson, founder of right-wing Christian group Focus on the Family, singled out SpongeBob at a black-tie dinner in Washington in the run-up to President Bush's inauguration, the New York Times said.

SpongeBob - who appears on the children's cable channel Nickelodeon - is seen as an icon for adult gay men in the US, apparently because he regularly holds hands with his sidekick Patrick.

They point to the fact that the WAFF is linked to a pledge being promoted by some liberal groups which includes a recognition of tolerance of sexual identity.

"We see the video as an insidious means by which the organisation is manipulating and potentially brainwashing kids," Paul Batura, a spokesman for Focus on the Family, told the New York Times.

James Dobson and the whole Fucus on the Family crew is seriously misguided. I've seen him in a video taped lectures explaining how feminism is destroying women and their families for example...

What the Fuck is so wrong about kids watching a video where two characters hold hands anyway? These christian organizations love to preach about loving one another until it comes to their kids watching two boys hold hands... whatever

"Manipulating and brainwashing kids?" Kinda like that whole 'Be good or you'll go to hell' thing? Sure, we can fill their heads with antiquated superstiton, but trying to teach tolerance and acceptance is brainwashing? Bastards

This sounds about as plausible as saying Spongebob is trying to advance the usage of diaphragms as contraception.

When Spongebob blows Patrick, they'll have a reason to complain. As it is, hand-holding isn't exclusive to the pink side of the fence, especially when we're talking about children. I'm guessing this guy doesn't cry, either, because "it's gay."

I thought Spongebob was a spokesperson for the gay because he's happy and laughing all the time. He looks pretty gay to me.

It's kind of revealing of a perverted mindset, too, isn't it? What kind of person looks at children holding hands and sees something sexual in it? A pervert.

Fundies like Dobson are a tightly wrapped bundle of projection. They see sex and depravity everywhere because that's all they think about. If they just wacked off a little more often, they might calm down a bit.

So when I hold hands with my sister it's incest, right? When I hold my niece and nephew's hands it's pedophilia?

Lookout! Child pornography!

I'm sure Dobson is still feeling pangs of guilt from that 1963 Playboy he kept stashed under his bed.

Is anyone really surprised? I think they're just so paranoid that they just see it everywhere now. I mean, when you've got right-wing fundie nutbars protesting at mr. rogers' funeral, because by saying "You're great just the way you are" he's saying it's ok to be gay, you know they're starting to crack (or smoke the crack, or lick it. Whichever.).

What is so scary about gay men, I wonder?

The Bible talks about people coveting. Where the witchhunt for the Covet'ers, dammit!

(PS - I always enjoy watching the way the fundamentalists use the Old Testament to excuse their beliefs, as though the whole point of Christ's scrafice wasn't to save humans from being turned into pillars of salt, or washed away by giant floods...)

You know what's odd?? The more people wear their intolerance on their sleeve, the more I hate them, and then I am the one who is intolerant.

The more vocal and stupid the religious right becomes, the more I hate them. Just like they hate the gay community.

So, I'm going to try to stop this, and say that I don't hate Dobson. I think he's a misguided, out-of-touch, scared little man. And I feel sorry for him and his family and those who take his word as truth. And now I want to puke

Seriously. You'd think they'd at least pick on people breaking actual commandments. But I guess they'd see a quick drop in attendence if they started holding adulterer's feet to the fire.

And crosses around the neck? Jesus sculptures on your wall? Graven images baby, it's never too late for another iconoclasm.

And hey, sucker... Feel good about taking the day off on Sunday? Well the Sabbath is actually Saturday - another commandment broken.
