there must be a glitch in the thing where yahoo chooses its pics for the news articles.

anyway, they have a picture of a beached whale under Michael Moore for no apparent reason and i thought it was fucking HILARIOUS.

"This undated image issued by Michael Moore of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 shows a sperm whale."

so i guess there's an oceanographer named michael moore or something, and they may or may not have accidentally and humorously used the photo for thee film-maker.

This undated image issued by Michael Moore of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts, Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004 shows a sperm whale. Sperm whales routinely dive more than two miles (three kilometers) below the ocean surface to hunt for giant squid, but a study shows the huge mammals suffer a chronic loss of bone tissue from the bends, a painful condition well-known to human divers. (AP Photo/PA, Michael Moore, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution)

Sucks to have a common name.

I can almost guarantee that the inclusion of that photo is a design flaw in their search algorithm. That said, it being selected as one of the most relevant images may, in fact, be less than accidental.

Especially, since most beached whales that cannot be drug off-shore into open sea wind up as claymores. Their bodies are filled with volatile gases (probably methane) and turn into a giant fleshy bomb. Sucks for people that go for a trip on a beach to be bombarded by chunks of seafood.

Maybe Moore should do a documentary on exploding sea mammals.

Oh, I get it: rather than engage the ideas and arguments presented in Moore's work, we'd rather just make fun of how fat he is.

How fresh and original. puke

Your right we shouldn't just call him fat, he is stupid too. I know very childish, but I'm bored.

But yeah it's just a funny coincidence.

No, it's making fun of a random image collector.

He's actually lost quite a bit of weight in the last few months. Did anyone see him on Leno a few weeks back? He reminded me a lot of Peter Griffin on the Family Guy. I wish I could find pics of the appearance. It was strange I think he must have lost 50 pounds and he had shaved.

Imagine if Michael Moore had made "Supersize Me."

It just rocks that the image is still there. wink

[Edit] As long I'm at it, if I understand correctly, when a large whale dies, its (ahem) body temperature begins to increase because the metabolic process that produces heat continues, but the cooling provided by its circulatory system stops. This raises the obvious question: If Michael Moore were to suddenly drop dead, would he cook himself and/or spontaneously combust? Just a silly thought.

--

We ran a story in our online newspaper saying Moore is embarking on a documentary and if you see a scruffy guy an immense whale in a baseball cap, you'll know who it is," said Stephen Lederer, a spokesman for Pfizer Global Research and Development.
