Woman loses $17,000 in fast food restaurant

A South Valley woman is asking for the public's help after losing her life savings while at a fast food restaurant.

Maria Morales says she doesn't trust banks and was carrying $17,000 in her purse.

Morales asked for the money to be returned, "If someone has found it, I want them to have compassion for me. I want that person to realize that I need that money."

She went into the Burger King in Bakersfield when the bag disappeared.

Morales saved the money over 40 years as a farmworker and planned on using the money to buy a home.

Wait. . .not only was she carrying $17,000 around with her, but she LOST it? How do you misplace your life savings? I'd I had that kind of money on me, it would be duct taped to my nuts.

maybe the person who found the bag needs it more...

a fool and thier money...

and, can she prove she actually had the money? could be a great scam. "boo hoo hoo, I lost all my money..." and nice people give a little here and there, next thing you know she's been given a house and has $50,000 in the bank

Dont trust banks?
You cant even trust yourself let alone be responsible and NOT carry around 17 grand in your purse.

Sorry Lady... But its gone. And you learned a valuable lesson.... trust banks... cause your FDAC insured up to 100,000 and also.... not to carry 17 thousand less take it out of a safe of your home.

Fucking retard.

I kind of feel sorry for her....

And then I think about how much I could do with that sort of money. And how I'd never EVER do anything that foolish to lose it.

And then I stop feeling sorry for her, and start feeling jealous of whoever's got the money now...

Sounds like she might have been an illegal immigrant. Can people without green cards open bank accounts? I know that homeless people have this problem due to athe lack of a fixed address.

I'd keep $2000, because I need to pay some bills. I'd give the rest back.

$17,000 to buy a house, hate to see the house, but hey if you are stupid enough to carry that kind of money around then I wouldn't think your taste would be that good.
