It's not their belief that I have a problem with [their life, their right]. It's their desire to legislate their belief as the only one acceptable to teach in the schools.

3 of the scientists that I work with believe this too. Apparently cavemen were just men who lived in caves (I didn't really know how to respond to that one) and carbon dating is all wrong.

Carbon dating is such total bullshit. I asked god, and he said, "No... fuck that. Carbon dating is a lie". He went on about how "dinosaurs bones" were really just heavenly toothpicks, discarded by him back in the day. Finally he said that I wasn't allowed to talk to him any more, and that he would only communicate to us through the pope, and George W.

Then he kicked me in the shin, and ran away giggling. That wacky god.

Speaking about scientists trying to rationalize their religious beliefs with their scientific findings, I read a book once that tried to explain the book of Genesis in relation to the evolution of man. I forget the name of it now but basically it said that the book of Genesis, the original Hebrew text, never referred to there being one man named Adam. But rather that adamis was the Hebrew word for man, and it stated that's when God breathed life into him making him a man.

It went on to state that if you use Eintein's theorem of time dilation, and used the six days in a geometric scale, the events that supposedly occured in those days match perfectly when accounting in relativistic time. For example, the first day would actually have taken several million years, the next day a fraction of that and so on. And that the first verses of the Bible correctly state the order in which the animals evolved (reptiles, amphibians, birds, etc).

Now obviously this sounds as bullshitty as the people that think the Bible can predict the future through numerology, but it's interesting to see how even well educated men of science try to rationalize their faith in odd ways.

I'm hoping that they don't. But then again, dinosaurs are mentioned in The Bible and they were around at the same time that man was. Apparently.

I still haven't had an explanation from the creationists for the presence of mitochondria in eukaryotic cells.

So what? People are entitled to their own beliefs. That is what America was founded on. If these idiots want to blieve that some god created them, more power to them. I for one believe that we came about as a result of the Great Green Arkelseizure. wink
