I didn't get to see the start of it, but it sounds like Artest got into it with one of the Pistons, then some pussy in the stands decided to throw a beer bottle at him. By the time I got in the other room to see it, it was starting to look like the stands were going to empty...

are you saying this was his fault? no way, that foul was week, and you cant expect him to just sit there and take people throwing shit at him from 5 feet away.

I didn't see the foul that started all this, but if it were me and someone in the stands were throwing shit at me, I'd probably be a bit pissed too. Don't know if I'd have the balls to go off into the stands, but still...

I missed it, sure I'll read about it soon. We were all wondering when the "new" Artest would implode again. Is this it?

I've got it on TiVo! I'm fast-forwarding now so I can see what the hell happened.

Edited to say it cut off with 7 minutes remaining. Dammit....

he's not a fucking wrestler! he's a basketball player that gets paid millions of dollars to entertain people. he's supposed to act like a professional regardless of what is said or thrown at him. who the fuck does he think he is, vernon maxwell? i wouldn't be surprised if he gets suspended by the league for a LONG ass time

and as for the foul, i don't blame benwa at all for pushing that punk. the pacers were only up by 15!

That was the most amazing thing I've ever seen unfold on a basketball court. I was at the gym in the middle of my workout and had to stop and watch the whole thing.

Fucking Detroit sports fans. Gotta love 'em. The current Pistons team is perfect for them. Badder than the 80's bad boys ever were.

Now, off to nba.com to buy my Ben Wallace jersey. One badass motherfucker.

Oh without a doubt he is getting suspended. Every played that went into the stands, threw a punch, or left the bench will be suspended by the NBA. From the looks of it, Darko will be starting in Detroit next weekend.

I think this whole thing is fucked up. Fans have too easy of an access to the players...they can pretty much walk right up to the players and say all kinds of shit. Is it any surprise that something like this finally happened? And since when does making a bunch of money mean you have to take bullshit from idiots? Does paying for a ticket to see a game give you the right to act like a drunken fool?

not at all, but let the security take care of it. that's why they get paid. artest gets paid to shoot baskets not to start fights with the crowd

Except that he didn't start the fight, the jackass throwing stuff at him did. I'm not arguing that Artest deserves an award from Mensa for going up there or anything, just that his reaction was understandable.

Update: apparently one of the refs got tagged pretty good in the head with a bottle. Ouch.

I'm from Indiana and I missed it. I'll have to tivo sportcenter tomarrow. I never thought Artest was a good fit in Indy anyway, the pacers have always been a low key, no-name, working class team, we don't need Artest's drama. Sucks I missed it.

and fans pay money to watch a game, not physically participate in it. artest didn't start the fight in my opinion. Had he gone into the crowd simply because a fan was talking shit, it would be a totally different story. At what point do you draw the line? I mean, the only thing that keeps fans from getting to the players is some chairs and tables? Some security guards spread here and there? Obviously security couldn't handle it and that's why it got so out of control.

What if a fan attempted something more serious? Should Artest have let security handle it then? I'm sure there will be dire consequences...I'm not saying they're not deserved...but I don't think it's fair to put blame on the player because he gets paid to shoot baskets and not to react to his surroundings.
