Clinton is the first US President that I feel I could probably relate to socially. We'd probably like some of the same bands and have a good time if we went for a drink. He seems human - a regular guy.

That and the blow job.

Which he never paid me for, incidently

Well, I think everyone will be able to look at the economy, specifically the rebound portion after the tech fallout, and be pretty respectful of his economic policies. One can pick at his international trade and military policies (though they are, of course, far preferable to the present regime's) so I don't think they are particularly memomable (to Americans... but overseas I have seen that a lot more people loved him more than our other presidents). I recall a conversation I had with some friends who consider themselves neo-cons and the one thing they actually complimented was his economic policy.

Of course, most people will fixate on the scandal thing. That's what the media said to focus on and everyone will do just that. The aim of it at the time was to distance him from his party. This worked to an extent.. I hope in coming years he still stays active in politics if only through his wife and the occasional convention.

As for who would win if all the presidents in the picture duke it out, I've got to go with Carter as well. He'd take them out cleanly and efficiently. He's probably the brightest of the bunch (though senility is setting in, so Clinton might have a leg up in this), is still in good shape, and has had plenty of military/intelligence experience. If you gave Clinton a distance to charge, though, he's got momentum on his side.

Hmmm... let's see, prior to clinton we had 12 years of Reaganomics, after clinton we have 8 years of more Bush money laundering... So, I'll take the blowjob guy back again as president* if it means we can stop pandering to the wealthy by bleeding the poor.

*yes i know the democrats are also a business party, but at least they aren't so god awful to me as the neo-conservative movement.

What was Clinton's legacy, which he obsessed about so much? He wanted so badly to be a historically significant president, but he was too concerned about polls and public opinion to make politically risky decisions. He only took risks when it involved satisfying his sexual urges outside of his marriage.
