Citizen's group won their petition for Ohio to do a recount.
$90,000 has been collected so far to do it.

Recount is because a major over-count has been discovered when they were counting the votes. More ballots were cast in 30 pricincts than there were voters registered there. About 100,000 more people voted than were registered to vote, which was 252,946 registrations.
There was a 39% overvote.
In some precincts the over-vote was well over 100%.
One precinct with 558 registered voters cast nearly 9,000 ballots.

(that's not even counting the 4,500 extra votes for Bush where there was only 648 voters registered)

Unfortunately, Kerry's still not gonna pick up the 3 million or so votes he was behind on in the popular race. And so my faith is this country will not change one way or the other.

So if a recount came up heavily in Kerry's favor, it wouldn't make any difference, right? Or could it?

if the recount in ohio goes to kerry, he'd be president.

North Carolina is also looking like they'll be doing a recount.

I'm all for Kerry being president.

For some reason though, I feel like the recount is a real waste.

Yes, he'd supposedly be declared president, but there's little doubt Bush would take it back with an obscenely long and costly legal battle.

And I'd still be pissed off at the Pop. Vote.

Don't hold your breath. The Supreme Court will make sure Bush stays elected, somehow, someway.

It's not going to be George. Unpopular as he may be around here...I'd bet the responsible parties are over-zealous, frightened party representatives.

Why would you be against an independently funded recount? Do you not want to see the actual results? Do you not care if there was cheating? Believe it or not, I would support a recount if it went the other way as well. I want elections and the process to be fair. I don't want invisible votes into an unaccountable machine. Elections are not a bullshit game. They deserve an open process and full investigation if there are discrepancies.

If you're so against democratic process, maybe you need to rethink the direction of your sledgehammer.

here's a question:

if kerry wins with a recount, and the 'liberal' (cough) corportate media starts actually taking notice and claims election fraud, and the presidency is given to kerry...

do you think the 'right' is gonna sit back and take it like the left seems to? do you think they're going to just say 'well... i guess we lost. i guess we're gonna have to try harder in 4 years?

we ain't seen nothin' yet. we're approaching ground zero. this is bigger than us, the ball is rolling, and it's not going to be stopped.

It certainly could, if it changes the apportionment of Ohio's electoral votes.
