"It's un-American not to have turkey at Thanksgiving," declared Sherrie Rosenblatt of the National Turkey Federation, a trade group for the $2.6 billion industry. She said their survey finds 98 percent of people gobble turkey on Thanksgiving, helping to make up a national annual consumption rate of 18 pounds per person.

Wow, I guess I'm not American. That is like 10 times this month that I have officially qualified as "un-american", another two and I am likely to have my citizenship revoked. whatever

Woo! I'm UNAMERICAN because I don't choose to EAT A CERTAIN BIRD!

That certainly makes much more sense than all the times I was called un-American for not agreeing with the President...

You know what's decidedly American, though? Me exercising my right to free speech in calling this woman an ignorant ass.

Not that I don't enjoy turkey, but give me a fucking break.

Hey, I like turkey and all, and in the mental ward I made it a personal goal each day to drink as much milk as humanly possible (I got to 4 milks)... But people who work for a company that sells a product or represents a product telling me that it does a body good can go shuv it, not skateboard style, but in a more deprecating way.

It's like someone telling me that beer replenishes my Q-Zone... sure, I drink beer, but not because some suit nonce tells me that it will cure halitosis and get me laid.

You know, I haven't had turkey for.. oh.. almost 14 years now.

Even when I ate it, I never really liked the taste or texture. Is it just that my mom was a terrible cook? Or was I just destined to be a turkey-hating unamerican commie pinko? eeek biggrin

I think it's hilarious that it would be suggested that we are un-American if we choose to not eat the bird that Benjamin Franklin thought should be the National Bird.

My family always goes out to one of those overpriced restaraunts for thanksgiving. I never order the turkey dinner because its a waste of a $50 a person meal to get turkey. I usually eat lobster or a good steak. Turkey isnt that good anyway.
