Early results always favor Republicans. There is no way Bush will win California.

That just won't happen. But, record numbers at the polls make me happy.
My campus is nuts today. Emotions are running really high. I've never seen anything like it. Young people actually giving a fuck about politics? eeek
And, I'm wearing an anti-Bush t-shirt and my first class was a Biblical Narrative class that is really popular with Christian students. I got some really evil glares in there.

Anyway, I already voted, so hopefully this is just another example of exit polls being crap.

Nor was I exit polled. If Bush wins California, that is an immediate tip off of voter fraud.

Ditto. No one was at my polling place asking questions, but I checked off Kerry on my ballot.

shouldn't it be illegal to announce exit polls while the actual polling places are still open?

This is true. I think the results will most likely swing toward Kerry later in the day, however let's not forget that California voted for Bush senior in 88 and has a Republican governor, and California was a red state from 68-92.

I found the story and told Shalome about it, and she wanted to get the word out to remind people not to be complacent. It's not so much an expression of concern as a reminder to get out there.

Exit polls are usually kerflooey, particularly in this close a race and this early in the day. I wouldn't take much stock in it.

My dear, the demographics here in the Golden State have shifted CONSIDERABLY since 1988. Notwithstanding the novelty appeal of the Governator, this state is heavily Democratic.

and let's also remember that arnold is actually fairly socially liberal, and was thus more acceptable to californians.
