So, my question is...

On what, if any, basis is someone challenged?

"you don't look like you live in this district!"

I want to know how many registered Republican and first-time Republican voters have been challenged by the GOP.

Fairness, my ass.

They can challenge someone's citizenship? How the fuck is someone supposed to prove that when you aren't required to bring I.D. to the polls, much less a passport or birth certificate?

Good god. Not everyone is going to go through the process of getting a provisional ballot (and how many people know they can even do that?) and then go through another process to prove they can cast a vote. That's what these assholes are COUNTING on.

*throws things*

Our ancestors who fought the good fight are turning in their graves right now.

Apparently, the party of Abraham Lincoln now thinks that because it once gave black folks the right to vote, it can take that right away from black folks who vote for the wrong person in swing states.

Man, if some fucker challenged my right to vote, I'd punch him in the kidneys.

Plaintiffs' appeals to the U.S. Supreme Court were unsuccessful. Early Tuesday, Justice John Paul Stevens, who handles appeals from Ohio, refused a request to stay the 6th Circuit decision.

God, more having to prove you're an eligible voter. What a drag, man. Voter intimidation! Jim Crow!

Do you think Republicans thought; "Mission Accomplished!" It's not gonna matter. Bush had better start packing his bags.

It's over, Johnny. Can you feel it?

How long were the lines you had to go through to vote today?

So since the Ohio GOP already lost at least one legal challenge to new voter registrations, those eligible voters should have to prove again that they're allowed to vote?

Yeah, all the vote challengers are doing is checking to see if you're on the roster for that polling area, because if you aren't, they're supposed to send you away to your correct area. Also, if people can't prove they're in the right place, they can still do a provisional ballot, and that will count once it's seen that you were voting where you were supposed to be.

It's not like they're harassing the people, even if they wanted to, how could they? There's going to be a democratic vote challenger sitting next to the republican one.

Speaking of silliness, democratic poll watchers were actually flown down to south georgia to make sure that republicans aren't intimidating people into voting against their will. WTF?! Last time I went the person running the polls was a friendly old black lady who I joked around with. And another guy who just gave me my card for the e-voting machine and said nothing. Where's the intimidation there?
