This is great but it won't effect me much. I handle my DVDs like exposed brains.

I know, but when you're asleep, sometimes I play frisbee with them, and then I get naked and sit on them, and let them stick to me. confused

Any idea if you'll be able to apply this coating to your old CDs and DVDs, like with a Disc Doctor?

I bet that I could scratch it.
My cd collection is horribly scratched.
I like to throw my cds in my mesh bookbag, not in the cases.

It's not surprising at all that the technology exists. I would be surprised if it becomes standard. They want us to fuck up out CDs and DVDs so we have to replace them.

It would be very easy to make rust-proof cars and sneakers that don't fall apart, but that's business suicide.

If it's neccessary for the new laser technology in DVD players ... they might use it.

Me too. I have no idea what the hell these people have been doing with their DVD's. I can understand CD's getting scratched, especially if you're changing discs for your walkman when you're out and about. But DVD's? whatever surreal

For one thing a DVD or CD that's burned wiith a blue laser can hold a lot more data than one ones burned with a red laser. Imagine the entirety of Pink Floyd's The Wall on one disc. Or perhaps the whole Star Wars trilogy on one DVD. eeek

Books, CDs, and DVDs rarely make it back to their cases and shelves I took them from. DVDs are just as mobile for me as CDs, moreso since I rarely ever carry CDs around but almost always have a few DVDs with me. I carry my laptop everywhere so a DVD on hand during down time or when I travel is not uncommon. I have right now three DVDs stacked on my night stand, and I think two more in my backpack.
