This is hardly surprising, but what is most distressing to me is that it barely even registered on my political anger meter. This is the danger of such abuses of power becoming so widespread and expected as to be considered inevitable, and as such, "business as usual." These are the kinds of things armed revolutions used to be fought over. Now, it's as though our assholes are so stretched out and numb from being repeatedly raped by the Administration that we barely blink when they ram it back in another time.
The mind reels at such a blatant abuse of power (and at the sheer chutzpah of using national security as an excuse to censor a quotation from a Supreme Court ruling about using national security as an excuse to stifle dissent).

The audacity of the Ashcroft Justice Department in their quest for preeminent control over any and all information is beyond Orwellian. This action seems to fit with their credo to never, ever admit mistakes, and above all - cover your ass.
No wonder Ashcroft had to throw a cloak over the statue of Justice in his office.
