Personally, I'm off of caffeine and my life is better for it. But I'm not going to prosteletize and say what works for my body/system is what works for others. In my case, caffeine was destroying my guts and ruining my overall health. But it took 10 years for me to finallty realize that. And I'm sure in the same time period others have consumed as much or more caffeine and it didn't affect them the same way.

I think if people were more in touch with what they consune and how it affects them it would be better for all. But blanketly saying everyone should stop doing something is ridiculous. Each person is different physically and physiologically and should balance what they take in based on what they know their body can handle or do.

Smoke if it really doesn't bug you. But if you're coughing up junk and feel sick, cut back on smoking.

It's real simple. But nowadays people are too detached from their own bodies to even know that.

Coffee is for suckers who don't exercise and/or don't have a good diet. As y'all know, exericise (such a foreign concept in the States) and good diet/sugar and meat reduction will boost your energy levels to the point that the caffeine shortcut is no longer needed.

I love reading about the negative impacts of smoking, coffee, drink, etc.. These are the diseases that weed out the weak from the strong, and help clean up the dirty gene pool. In fact, I tend to think of Starbucks, American Spirits, and Irish pubs as Eugenics Headquarters.

I live on Dr. Pepper and I have had kidney stones.. I guess that could explain it.

Kidney stones aren't fun..
I'm a guy, and I was on my hands and knees crying like a baby. I was told by a nurse that women who have had Kidney stones say it's worse then Childbirth. Don't know if that's true.. just know I'm gonna try and change my habits for sure.

I've had them TWICE. Helluva way to spend my 18th bithday. It's true, the pain of it going through your system is fucking unbearable. Pissing them out hasn't been a problem, though. My last one was about the size of a grain of rice and I didn't feel a thing. Having to strain your urine is a tad annoying, too.

Just consume enough fluids without caffeine in them and you will be fine.

I have had kidney stones. And I used to drink nothing but cokes, tea, and coffee. My doctor told me that drinking those items caused me to not to be properly hydrated and contributed to my kidney stones. So, I have cut out a great deal of the caffeine out of my diet, and I have not regretted it.

This sounds to me like the problem is dehydration resulting from the fact that caffiene is a diuretic.

Wouldn't it make sense that increasing water consumption could compensate for the caffeine?

Were they testing caffeine consumption or coffee consumption? I don't drink coffee but I consume a lot of caffeine and I drink gallons and gallons of water every day. I'm probably more likely to suffer from kidney failure or water intoxication... Anyway, sounds scary.

Caffeine. They equate the recommended amount to "two cups of coffee" because it's easy to understand, and lots of people drink two cups of coffee (or the equivalent) before work every day.

Breaking my caffeine addiction a few months ago was difficult, but I'm glad I did. I was more miserable when addicted than I am without it.

im sorry, but i have to call bullshit on this entire line of thought. have you BEEN to walmart recently? there are so many humans on this planet, there is no weak or stronganymore. there is no cleaning up the gene pool.
these people, drinking bad food and not exercising BREED. and they are teaching thier children to do the same. and they breed in multitudes, long before health problems from the life style arise.

face it, the human race is hopelessly fucked.

The world would be a better place if the US taxed caffeine. I expect it to be a gun lobby slogan soon; "guns don't kill people, caffeine-crazed-gun-owners kill people."

I'd have that as a bumber sticker. So long as I wasn't driving in the US. wink

You know that whole eugenics thing has been tried before right? It was kind of unpopular.
