She started a grass roots campaign, an internet site called "kids for kerry" if I remember correctly. Personally, I don't really mind if the Dems are wooing people who can't vote for another 6 years, but it might make it tough for them to win elections for a while.

Yeah...I would say that using children (or at least endorsing a children's website) is a bad thing...I mean... Yeah

But I still think it's funny that she said Dick Cheney needed a time out...And even funnier that the democrats applauded her for it...

Can you imagine what congress would be like if you had to sit in the corner wearing a pointed hat if you went over your time limit?! hehehe

yep, she started a grassroots campaign. and i think it's really cool that they included her. yes, she can't vote and neither can any of her 12 year old friends, but hell, he's more political at 12 than i was at 18. i think it's pretty neat that she got to speak.

I think it is a good thing. I mean, come on people. There are so many people over the age of 18 who CAN vote and do NOTHING; this girl shows more enthusiasm than any of those people do. It's a damned if ya do damned if ya don't thing according to the posts here. I mean, we all want what we think is best for the country in terms of government and yet we will go ahead and condemn the Democrats for "using" a 12 year old who takes more interest in politics than we the supposed "voice" do. When people over 18 don't vote they hurt their country far worse than a speech from a 12 year old. It's inciteful and intelligent of her to do so. She did her own thing her own way. She shows a certain promise of what tomorrow may bring for America. She spoke well, and showed that she has knowledge of politics and that she cares. Get off the "OMG They USED a 12 year old" schtick people. She was not used. She could have said no. She didn't because she believes that children can make a difference and it's true they can, because parents listen when their children talk about politics and show an interest to learn and then speak about it. She has inspired other 12 year olds, hopefully she and they stay so inspired 6 years from now when they can vote and take our country's fate into their own hands and know more about politics than most of the 18 year olds who do. They will be formidable if they keep this fire, and good for them because that's what we need, not lackadaisical 18 year olds who merely vote a certain way because their parents are the opposite party or like a good boy or girl vote with mom and dad's party. Good for her. Get off the high horse and take your country into your own hands if you don't like her ideas. She had a point when it came to Cheney's using a bad word. The thing is, people usually use those words when for some reason they cannot seem to use their terms and define what they want by the use of their vocabulary, which generally points to not being able to think under pressure. I don't want that type of leadership, second only to the president, especially not with the stresses and pressures of insurgence in Iraq and the war on terror.

I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself. Quality. Doesn't anyone else find it scary how the girl looks like Leo Sayer?

But I totally agree with Blossom. So many dumb people not voting, when they should be making the difference.

It's even sadder to think that ElHefe has a permanent mental image of Leo Sayer stored in his mind to compare with 12 year old girls whenever he feels like it.

surreal surreal surreal

It's even sadderer to think that now I have that same image stuck in my head.

This simply HAS to be the first time in recorded internet history that anyone has mentioned Leo Sayer in relation...to anything...good god. If anyone mentions Air Supply or the Little River Band at this point...then Nostradomas was right and I'm heading into the bomb shelter. skull

That's really cool. It's nice to think some kids will be informed before they reach the voting age. I'd rather see kids taking an interest in politics now and then voting once they get older than listen to the whiny, deadbeat non-voters who surround me on campus.
