I used to hate soccer too, until I went to a live champion's league match in Europe (Madrid vs. Munich). It was one of the best sporting events I've ever seen live, and I've been to plenty. Now I'm a convert. You have to go to an actual game before you dismiss it.

The amount of skill required to do something well has little bearing on its entertainment value. Negotitating a divorce settlement between two people with large assets takes an enourmous amount of skill to do well. But I wouldn't want to watch it. And I would still watch if before I would watch pro basketball.
