It seems that a law passed in KY requiring that a plaque honoring the "power of Almighty God" be placed on KY homeland security buildings, with a penalty of up to a year in jail for noncompliance. There was a lawsuit filed in 2008 by American Atheists, but it was overturned by the state Court of Appeals. They are now taking it to the US Supreme Court.
"This is one of the most egregiously and breathtakingly unconstitutional actions by a state legislature that I've ever seen," said Edwin Kagin, the legal director of American Atheists', a national organization focused defending the civil rights of atheists.
I'd go out on a limb and assume that the same people for passing this law are also afraid of Sharia law being implemented in the US and comment on the humor of the situation, but I can't.
does not specify which god they speak of. someone needs to use some creative thinking on this one and put either Odin or Allah up there in place of god. Then let the courts settle it.
OK, this one has the paragraph attesting faith in God. Where's the bit that links it to a 12 month sentence for non-compliance? Or in specific requirements for anyone to do anything regarding this non-sensical paragraph? Where's the bit about plaques?

You need to read through chapter 39A. The penalties are the last item. I am still unclear what actions or non-actions are to subject to the penalty.
Even if someone thinks this is a good idea (which I don't), I can think of about 1,000 other, more productive things the Kentucky State Legislature could be doing with its time.
