So if America sinks into the sea, we have a local "Waterworld" re-make. Dibs for being one of the "smokers"!
And if America is "dead inside" it just means America is like trees, who also have a lot of dead tissue inside (wood), providing structural strength to the living, growing tissue outside. Technically this should count as "strenghtening the union" but I doubt this is what Beck meant.
Beautiful day Glenn "I didn't know you still had a show" Beck is perplexed at how America just can't see the demons he sees, Donald "Hairhat" Trump loses his mind on twitter and Karl Rove is still contesting Ohio. I feel so gooooooodddddddd!

Has anybody else been watching Fox News and listening to conservative talk radio all day long, basking in the sweet schadenfreude of their delicious tears?
Of course, the troubling thing is how some folks are getting even more extremist in defeat....
Let them. They're sliding back into the far corner of irrelevance. That guy's idea, to cut out friends, family, clients, coworkers that he even THINKS voted for Obama, and to start a campaign of harassment of anyone who uses gov't assistance, is nothing more than a plan to self-destruct. They're screaming and crying and throwing a childish fit.
In a week or two, the first of them will start to understand how futile their idiocy is.
Some few will never realize that Ayn Rand's poorly written novels aren't a path to a better tomorrow. They will buy gold coins (useless if the economy actually does collapse) and a few more guns, and a bunch of emergency food rations. They're declare themselves "sovereign citizens" and end up in jail.
That kind of spoils it for me, seeing it at a distance and on a massive scale.
However, a rather amusing guy in my morning class made a comment in my vicinity about being depressed about that damn election, and I just stared at my phone and smiled. It made me realize that many of the depressing people surrounding me had a setback and I felt glad.
I just saw this tumblr white people mourning romney and it is amazing. Half of these expressions are only appropriate for news of a terrible natural disaster.

My concern is that this "sliding back" is only going to lead to even more extremism and violence. Instead of learning that maybe the extremism and "purity" espoused by the Republican Party in general and the Tea Party and Conservative media (blogs, Rush Limbaugh, etc.) specifically might not be what this country really wants, it seems like they are doubling down on it.
I live not too far from Springfield, Missouri, which was until recently where Jared Lee Loughner (the man who shot Gabby Giffords) was being detained and evaluated for trial. And it's people like him that frankly scare me.
The problem is that when these extremist idealogies lead people to cut off others that don't share those same idealogies, it only leads to more extremism without any sort of external feedback to deter them from violence.
Yes, this "sliding back" means that their voice has softened, but sometimes a whisper can be even more deadly than a shout.

Speaking of America sinking into the sea and smokers, if it happens we will have legal weed. Colorado is the most heavily populated part of the area that would remain.
Maybe she was thinking of Austria, rather than Australia. Common mistake to make.
I mean, Austria actually has a President - and he's a guy. Except he's an agnostic. Hmmm ...
I know. Maybe she was talking about New Zealand. It's close to Australia, and if you've never been outside the U.S., you might mistake the two. They certainly speak alike, right?
No wait - New Zealand also has a Prime Minister, not a President. And while it's a guy, he's an agnostic too.
I think I've got a better idea. She's really just as much of an idiot as she seems.

.
While I understand the point you're trying to make, your example isn't particularly suited to it.
Loughner is severely paranoid schizophrenic, which looks to have driven his actions far more than any political ideology.
Okay, maybe a bad example (it was the first thing that came to mind), but I believe that my point is still valid. And even in the Loughner example, while he may be mentally unstable, hearing people like Beck, Limbaugh, and anti-government extremists say the things they do most certainly isn't helping. They can help drive someone over the ledge.
