For weeks, the Romney campaign have used an out-of-context quote from President Obama as the backdrop to their “We Did Build This!” tour, a series of speeches and press conferences featuring a parade of small businesses that have directly benefitted from government loans and contracts.
It’s a theme that will carry over to the Republican National Convention next week, as the event organizers have titled Tuesday evening’s primetime session “We Built This!”

The Tampa Bay Times Forum, usually the home to the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL team and other large-scale events, was built in 1996 for $139 million, 62 percent of which was provided by the taxpayers of Florida.
I don't give enough of a shit to even make up my own commentary. I'm getting this second-hand from x-member Dunx, so I'll just pass along his commentary:
At this point there's probably about a dozen threads I could say this, but I would hope that any one of these many, many, many articles on Republican dumb-assery are sufficient to sway those liberals who say they'll sit out this election because Obama hasn't been progressive enough.
Frustration is understandable, but if I may quote Barney Frank: "Our side may not be perfect, but they're nuts!"
A judge from Lubbock County, Texas has proposed that the Sheriff department needs some serious funding, pronto. He's urged the county to raise property taxes to help county law enforcement prepare for the possibility that President Obama might be reelected.
Judge Tom Head, who doubles as an emergency planning official, had this to say of the President:
He's going to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the U.N. ... Then what happens? I'm thinking worst-case scenario - civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. ... We're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy. ... [If Obama were to] send in U.N. troops, I don't want them in Lubbock.
Here's a video of the poor bastard. Just remember his name and his face when you storm the beaches of Northwest Texas, François.

It was almost as if he was thinking "Well, if people don't want to raise taxes for reasonable ideas like increased staffing, let's close with the 'OMG! Obama iz a commie muslin!', which will get these idiots to throw money at me". Then I realized he's clearly not that intelligent.

Did I jut hear a sworn officer of the law publicly advocate the overthrow of the United States Government while simultaneously making a latent threat against the President?
He might not officially be a birther, but Mitt Romney knows how to play into that crowd's conspiracies, as he showed at a rally in Michigan on Friday. Romney, standing alongside his wife Ann at campaign stop in Commerce, joked: "No one asked to see my birth certificate. They know this is the place that we were born and raised."
(my emphasis)
I'm not outraged, offended, or incensed. I do want Romney and most of his party to go die in a ditch and stop depressing me, admittedly, but this is just sad-ass on so many levels.
Vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan says that he personally believes that rape is just another “method of conception” and not an excuse to allow abortions.

Reading that Paul Ryan quote just caused my brains to melt and leak out of my ear because of the extremely concentrated levels of stupidity contained therein!!

Doesn't look like it. I guess this guy lost his state job on the board of the New Mexico Foundation for Open Government after a different email scandal in July. He was caught trying to use personal email accounts to try and exert influence with other state officials, from the sound of things, Gov. Martinez was getting tired of having to remind people of how to not to do their job. Among other things, he's a real shit.

Yeah. Don't worry. Obama is definitely not a Progressive, but he's about a billion times better than any Republican.

*shrugs* Obama is unquestionably a better President than Romney would be, and he serves my interests far more handily. But that doesn't make him a good choice, or that I must lower my standards of who I vote for.
But don't worry. I strongly suspect that there are very, very few liberals who would agree with me.
