My question is, in the event of a nuclear war, are any of you going to listen to some guy who says s/he's president based on some scheme noone was told about? Especially considering that this person represents a government that apparrently got us into a nuclear war? Screw off, Mr. President. i'm busy looting on this here elephant.

Well it could just be an Al Qaeda briefcase nuclear bomb taking out DC and voila good bye Democracy for awhile atleast. I mean Lincoln suspended habeas corpus. So would neo-cons bent on forming an American Empire stoop to suspending Posse Comitatus? I mean besides the war on terror and Patriot Act 1 and 2 which may have possibly made us less secure and definately less free what has the Executive wing of the government done? Oh yeah they're preparing us for the "final" show down between good and evil or is it our inevitable victory in the culture war or the afore mentioned American Empire which will apparently in the end make the world safe for democracy or give our reptilian alien overlords the one world government they've always wanted. I dunno.

All I know for certain is I want an elephant or maybe a rhino that would be bad ass.

There is a certain segment of the US population who believe that the greatest evil facing mankind is the government of the United States. It is interesting to note that this segment is consistent in their belief regardless of which party occupies the White House.

The article which started this chain has been proven to be factually incorrect in many of its assertions and liberally edits the plan being discussed. For instance, the plan outlined specific scenarios in which the implementation of this plan could occur (certain number of nuclear hits - not launches - certain number of estimated dead, etc.). No mention of these triggers is made in the article. Second, this was not a Cheney/Rumsfeld plan. Instead, it was a plan that was developed with representation and input from across the US government - including representatives from Congress.

In the end, we have much more to fear in this world than the succession plan of the executive branch in the event of a nuclear war. We should be more concerned about protecting ourselves against militant muslims who teach small children in kindergarten that martyrdom is the highest level of spirituality and that killing a westerner will please Allah.

Well hey, thanks for setting us all straight three years after the fact. surreal
