Wait, that Perry/Palin rally gets even better.

Palin

“When Washington came calling with money for expensive programs that Texas couldn’t afford, he told them, ‘Thanks, but no thanks. We’re doing just fine without you,’ ” she said.

Perry

How long will the folks in Washington keep spending money that they don’t have on solutions they haven’t thought through for problems they don’t really understand?” Perry said. “I suspect the answer is, they will continue to do that until every American is dependent on the federal government for every need.”

And of course, the location:

Supporters lined up three hours before start time at the Cypress-Fairbanks school district’s $73 million Berry Center, a massive taxpayer-funded complex that includes a football stadium, auditorium, conference center and arena.

Idiots.

Well, that was money spent on something important. Football is life in Texas.

To be fair, there was a second "O" in "HOMESCHOLERS", but it was offered up to Perry's magnificent haircut as a sacrifice.

Maybe he was going for "home scholars" and sounded it out?

Not nessecarilly. They might decide, instead of running a candidate against a GOP candidate, that the GOP candidate has sufficient "Tea Party" cred. I think the Massachussets special election would be an excellent example of this.

that will work until the next election cycle, when those same voters kick the GOP candidate out of office for towing the GOP line. as for Massachusetts, that might be so--but as mydogfarted pointed out, Coakley ran an incredibly shitty campaign.

That shitty campaign included Obama's failed attempt at coming to her rescue. You don't think it's a stretch to say that some one who likes Obama wouldn't vote for Coakely, knowing full well that doing so would derail his domestic policy?

In any case, Pennsylvania going to have another non-referendum-on-Obama in May, so I guess we'll see won't we? Even of the Dems' guy runs a decidely non-shitty campaign, I doubt'll make a difference.

So, you're going to forever ignore those voters who voted for Brown because they didn't think the proposed Health Care bill went far enough?

No. Not at all.

Sadly, to explain it to you would be like trying to teach math to a ferret. So, I will leave it at "no."

no, i don't think it's a stretch at all. frankly, i'm not sure i would have voted for Coakley--anyone who proves herself that inept at running a campaign isn't someone i'd feel comfortable handing the responsibilities of governance to. for that matter, i'm pretty disgusted with how badly the Democrats have managed to derail their own healthcare bill. i don't see that adding or subtracting one Democratic voice will make that particular train wreck any less gruesome.

Why do conservatives do so much redistribution then?

*****GRAPHIC REMOVED******

OK, that's gone. It's not a rhetorical question. Seriously, if Teabaggers are all about "Down with the Liberal-Collectivist-Redistributionist Establishment!", why do conservatives do so much redistribution then?

How awesome would a Palin-Obama debate be? Epic verbal beat down.

At this point the tea parties are a complete farce unto themselves. I mean for fuck's sake the GOP is backing people against Ron Paul because now the FOXNEWS neocon tea party movement is essentially shorthand for "attack Iran immediately and keep the torture rolling ..."

If the goal is to get Obama a second term (which I am not sure the New World Order has decided upon yet) then republicans nominating Palin is the fastest way to achieve that.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

while keeping the two wars going, the torture rolling, and probably still ending up in Iran too. Just with left cover as the "tea partiers" trained like seals shriek that Obama isn't doing enough because the rhetoric used while doing the above isn't as bold as his predecessor - "take the gloves off" - "bring em on" - "dead or alive" etc....

Well they might be a bit more inclusive. They might consider people who think exactly like them and have "values" that match theirs as "American." Because nothing says American like fuck everyone else.

Interesting piece in the NYT on the teabaggers that shows just how full of the crazy they are. In case that wasn't apparent to you before. Long, but worth a read.

the sad part is that in a few ways, the teabaggers are not far off target:

Urged on by conservative commentators, waves of newly minted activists are turning to once-obscure books and Web sites and discovering a set of ideas long dismissed as the preserve of conspiracy theorists, interviews conducted across the country over several months show. In this view, Mr. Obama and many of his predecessors (including George W. Bush) have deliberately undermined the Constitution and free enterprise for the benefit of a shadowy international network of wealthy elites.

but their stated goals are just dumb, especially in relation to what they say is wrong with the country:

Tea Party gatherings are full of people who say they would do away with the Federal Reserve, the federal income tax and countless agencies, not to mention bailouts and stimulus packages. Nor is it unusual to hear calls to eliminate Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

why don't they just come up with a colored ribbon to tie to their car antennae, while they're at it?

The fact that these people are preparing for an armed uprising. These people fear the end of the Republic, but their willing to bring it on themselves. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, we're witnessing the decline of the U.S. Unfortunately, these wackjobs are going to accelerate the decline. I don't disagree with some of these people's ideals, but the fact that they are poorly organized, wholly uninformed, and being infiltrated by radical militia groups tells me we're headed for something no different than the problems Muslim nations around the world are dealing with with the likes of Al Qaeda, etc.

It's the militias all over again. First it was because Clinton was president, now it's Obama. But this time, they've found a "party" to rally around. The media will cheer them on, until there is another Oklahoma City, then the media will turn on them and they will run off to the hills and their encampments.

I like what Bill Maher said about the Teabaggers; the only thing they have in common with our forefather's is bad teeth.
