Oh, you gotta love those for-profit "grassroots" type movements.

Conservative activists in Nashville this week for the first-ever National Tea Party convention gave a hero's welcome to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who closed the event with a speech last night. Palin praised the Tea Party movement and delivered a scathing — sometimes mocking — critique of both the economic and national security policies of the Obama administration

She got paid $100,000 to break out her fake Minnesota accent. She claims she gave the fee back to "the movement'. Since she believes that she IS the movement, I am betting that the money went right into her pocket. Maybe she can use some of that to buy more copies of her own book.

I just caught the end of FOXNoise Sunday, and I noticed that Chris Wallace could only keep one hand visible while he was talking about the 'baggers. Yeah, Fox is neutral. whatever

Teabaggers at the Gaylord Opryland? If nothing else, these people have an awesome sense of humor.

Oh, and you know how it seems so many Conservatives want to be transported back to a 1950s that didn't really exist? Ole Tommy "Real 'Mericans Talk White" Tancredo thinks the 1870s would be better:

These people are such a source of entertainment. Palin using her hand as a cheat sheet and she still sounds like a blabbering 10 year old. Classic.

i don't get much entertainment from it. i find it alternately scary (when i think we have a chance in hell of keeping our agendas moving forward in the face of this movement) or depressing (when i don't).

Maybe that's the problem. To you (meaning the Liberal-Collectivist-Redistributionist Establishment) have an "Agenda" for the American people instead of let them live their lives as they see fit. Now the American people are going have a new revolution (at the voting booth, of course) to dispense with the old guard! XD

Whenever I hear someone say "the American people" I always reread the sentence with "I" or "me" in its place. The end result is always far more accurate.

complete bullshit. the conservative element in this country has just as much of an agenda as the liberal element. for that matter, the Tea Party certainly has an agenda as well, though theirs is significantly less well defined. a political movement without an agenda is a contradiction in terms.

Ah, but the Tea Party's Agenda is to blunt the Agenda of others, so that each person may have his or her own personal agenda! That's what makes it special. biggrin

Why do conservatives do so much redistribution then?

I'm just supremely amused at the agenda it's going to end up blunting. I totally support the Tea Party activists continuing to divide the GOP. Democrats and Independents united for Sarah Palin to run in 2012! Woo! biggrin

Not nessecarilly. They might decide, instead of running a candidate against a GOP candidate, that the GOP candidate has sufficient "Tea Party" cred. I think the Massachussets special election would be an excellent example of this.

Hell, I'd see it. I've love to hear Palin respond to Obama calling some one "Corpse man".

No. That was an example of a shitty democratic candidate thinking she had a cakewalk to getting elected, and caring fuck all to actually put the time in. surreal

that will work until the next election cycle, when those same voters kick the GOP candidate out of office for towing the GOP line. as for Massachusetts, that might be so--but as mydogfarted pointed out, Coakley ran an incredibly shitty campaign.

To be fair, there was a second "O" in "HOMESCHOLERS", but it was offered up to Perry's magnificent haircut as a sacrifice.

SergeantPsych has managed to do the impossible; he has taken to rolling the CE board and is now smoking his own crack. 600 people gathering at the Opryland to express that time honored whine; "oh, please just let me live my life the way I want to Daddy," is NOT anything close to a referendum on the current administration.

It is however clear evidence that despite previous concerns, evolution is thinning the ranks of the idiotic gatherers at Opryland.
