***I've always admired the weekly column by FearTheReaper, especially in times like this. So I thought I'd write my own entry for the Asshole Fuckface candidate...***

Lots of people see sacristans (the church officers in charge of the sacred vessels) as individuals even more devoutes to god-like activities than child-molesting priests. They are the unsung people who work in the church, for the church, without ever taking spotlight of reading a sermon or celebrating mass.
What would people think, then, of mister Angelo Idi, who greeted his faithful church-goers in Vigevano (northern Italy) last Tuesday with such a sombre look:

Yes, that is a proper swastika armband, as worn by Hitler's fanatics during WWII.
He just stood and greeted church-goers like that, and had no problems being taken a pic or two.
He also choose a great day for this public display of affection: last Tuesdat Israel was celebrating the victims of the Shoah, so it was totally tasteful and respectful to stand outside his church and greet people with the symbol of what killed millions of Jews.

The story broke out and now this Asshole Fuckface is on tv being unapologetic and declaring that the swastika symbol, and what it stands for, have been greatly misunderstood, and now it's time to reclaim the symbol again.
Fuck you, Angelo!

And the disconcerting thing is that every person going to that church now is pissed off at him, and yet the titular priest of that church has not fired him not spoken any word against him. Nor has the Vatican said anything about it yet.
Mmm....

To be honest, I'm not suprised the Vatican has said anything. I feel like they're the biggest and oldest good-old-boy network in the world. If they pretect priests who fuck little boys, I don't know why they wouldn't protect Nazis in their ranks.

Reclaiming Fascism. I like that. Sounds like a good book title.

It gets rejected every time Coulter submits it with a draft, though.

Actually the swastika does have a long history that prdates its appropriation by the nazis. Alas, unless he's trying to come out with his Jainism I don't think this is what said jerkoff meant by "reclaiming the swastika". puke

of course, i know all about it, just because every single time someone is caught with an hitler and swastika poster in their bedroom, they start claiming that the swastika has long been misunderstood, and that is the symbol of the sun, and blah blah blah.
while all this is true, one can't forget nor deny that since around 1940, the swastika has become the symbol of evil. it doesn't matter if mayans used to draw it as a sign of peace, relaxation and harmony, nowadays a swastika is the logo of nazism. so claiming that one person has been misunderstood while wearing it has always been the poorest excuse for their actions.

and anyway, the idiot was wearing a proper swastika armband, in true SS fashion. so he's got no excuse.

he was suspended by his church job in the evening, by the way. the church didn't make a big deal out of it, they simply suspended him, with no further communication. meh.

Yea dude, i don't doubt that, i have read that too.

But when it's on a red armband, encircled in white while posted in black, and the colors are specific to the Third Reich that did some wonderful such things as ethnic cleansing by fire and gas and is still to this day used as symbol for extremist groups everywhere......he probably doesn't have the intentions of reviving it's original meaning.

The Swastika! I'm taking it back!

Hence the second line of my comment: "Alas, unless he's trying to come out with his Jainism I don't think this is what said jerkoff meant by "reclaiming the swastika puke ", which hopefully shows that my post was NOT meant as a defense of said asshole.
And like you said, it's a tad hard to claim you're representing the original Mayan, etc. meaning when you're sporting it SS sytlee.

no worries dear manga lover otaku, my reply wasn't meant to be "against" your stance, it was just a way to make the concept more clear - i knew you were on the right side wink

here's another news update... he was interviewed on the radio and it was rather pitiful to listen to, the guy is really a moron, and in his defence was using every single generic "i am not nazi, really" excuse: in 10 minutes he managed to say that he isn't a nazist but a fascist (mmm, way to improve your charisma!), then he said he was set up by the journalist, then he said no one really saw him (apart from everyone going to church), then he said that all in all, all the partisans who fought nazism in italy in WWII maybe would feel pity for the state of italy nowadays, so maybe they wouldn't die for their country if they had to choose today to be against nazism... it was a pitiful train wreck, the interviewer was rather speechless, because this idiot was really fucking himself up by himself. d'oh.

so this kind of furthers what most people know... nazism in 2009 is the son of utter ignorance.
know your history, guys!
