I once heard that the reason hemp and marijuana got such a bad rap had to do with nylon. Supposedly the companies that make nylon ropes were trying to get the government to use their products in the army and navy, but hemp ropes were stronger and cheeper to make, so it wasn't going well for nylon untill they lobbied REALLY hard. Then the law changed and the navy had to use Nylon because it was the next best thing to Hemp. According to the person who told me, dunno how true it is but it sounds pretty plausible.

And as for you IrishLibra, why are you not proud of it, its not a dirty thing, the only thing wrong with pot moking is basically laziness, and a bit of dissasociation, and perhaps escapism. There is nothing to be"not proud of".
Criminal penalties aside?
I'm *hardly* bad ass, but I know when it comes down to hiring for a police agency, the five or six times I've smoked up will affect my candidacy versus someone who's never touched the stuff.
I'm not saying that there's something wrong with smoking up, besides the associated criminality. Do what you want to, that is what makes our nation what it is. That also means I have the choice to think what I want to, alright?
On a final note, if you have something to say to me, nice or otherwise, do it in my journal. I rarely check the boards once I've posted.

thank you dupont chemical corporation. i believe (dont quote me on this) but i believe they did a lot of anti-marijuana lobbying themselves, and they helped to fund...ah...wtf was the name of it...some "mothers against marijuana" campaign. also during this time in the south there were a large number of immigrants from mexico helping out on ranches. part of the mexican culture they brought up with them was marijuana. the racial card got played against the "dirty mexicans and their loco weed." somehow smoking it made them go mad and rape the rancher's daughters or something. i recommend watching a documentary called Grass. although it's quite one-sided they do point out a number of good facts in it. in summation, weed should not be illegal. the end.
