I know dozens of fratboys...and none of them look like that. And Olivia, do you honestly think a higher turnout would have favored a Green Party candidate? I don't...but i don't live there and don't plan on it any time soon.

actually, yes, it would have. it was a really close election. also, the election day votes had the green party guy ahead of the more conservative guy. (but the conservative guy already had his absentee votes.) turnout was expected to be 55%, which favored the green party guy. sadly, the rain kept turnout low.

I know it sucks... but the margin was close enough to actually give a Californian some hope....

San Francisco cracks me up. It gives $400 cash to any homeless person to spend anyway they want, and then they wonder why the homeless population keeps rising surreal

Low turnout due to rain?

Oh the irony the green candidate undone by the environment coupled with peoples complacency about politics. My condolences to those of you in San Fran, granted I know nothing of whom you did elected but I'm on priniciple in favour of Greens holding office.

Interesting numbers...only 3% of SFs registered voters are Green, while Matt Gonzalez received 47% of the vote. A phyrric victory for Newsom?

first off, its not $400. second, even $400 doesn't get you a place to stay if you can't fit or don't qualify somehow for the section8 housing. third, if $400 a month is enough for you to choose to go homeless.. shut up and try it.

Care Not Cash may not be a horrible idea, the problem is, it was written by a horrible man who cares like Mr. Bush cares.

actually, it's a great idea in my opinion. everyone should have to vote or pay a fine...or perhaps community service.

Personally I'd prefer it if you had to wear those "I voted" stickers year round. Then when people who didn't vote complain, people who did could stamp their foreheads with bright red "Shut the fuck up." stamps.

Is there hope for the Green party? I guess that's why I'm holding out for a socialist revolution.

Unfortunately, I live soulth of SF, and can't vote there.

Another victory for the downtown interests.

SF appears liberal, but it's really run by and for downtown real estate investors.
