I can't tell if that was ludicrous or sarcastic? But in any case i think it's easier to get the guns out of the hands of a populace of only 18million as compared to the 300+million living in the US. Now i'm going to stop talking about gun control as i think it's the most pointless topic for debate on this website--pointless only because no one ever gets anywhere, not because it isn't debate-worthy.

Your follow on points, I agree with very much. We have relatively closed borders, the US has relatively porous borders. We have a low baseline number of guns in circulation, you have a way higher baseline.

Thus it is much easier for us to control our guns than it is for you guys. I agree.

STILL -- we stand as an example of a reasonably successful model of gun control, measured by comparative rates of gun crime. I accept that it's much less plausible that the US could feasibly emulate this model even if it wanted to, which many of its citizens do not.

Final point: Eraser's ability to "control" his own gun is irrelevant. The reason this thread is here is his sheer inability to control everyone else's.

I don't want another pointless long gun thread either. I would just like to see an end to this "gun control can't work" bollocks. The evidence is in. Maybe it can't work in the US, and that's you guys' problem to figure out. But it works OK elsewhere. Not perfectly, but for the most part satisfactorily.
