Actually liberal just has to do with stances on social issues and can be independent of economics

Actually, you're wrong. Read your history.

Does it ever strike anyone that in their days, the Founding Fathers would have been considered radical liberals? And yet today, modern revisionist thinking says that they were white slave owning oppressors....

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."
-- Winston Churchill

Does that work for women too? wink

There's no revision involved.. they were white, owned slaves, and oppressed those slaves. Most folks who point this fact out also praise our founding forefathers for their foresight as well.. at least I've never heard otherwise.

Damn.. I hope future generations in the U.S. are wise enough to point out our faults and our good qualities. It's called progress.

Or did I miss your point?

My point is that things aren't always what they seem and to point out to people that Liberalism isn't bad....and neither is Conservatism. They both have good points and bad points. But i also find it funny that many Conservatives today are full of nothing but praise for the Founding Fathers and the good ol' days but the Founding Fathers were not conservative for the most part...otherwise they wouldn't have done what they did.

And i've rarely heard praise or admiration for the Fouding Fathers come from the mouth of anybody who says that the FFs were "white, oppressing slave owners". They in fact were to a certain degree but they knew they couldn't change everything overnight so they set things up for change.
