(CNN) -- A purported message from al Qaeda's deputy leader posted on Islamist Web sites on Wednesday told President-elect Barack Obama that "a heavy legacy of failure and crimes awaits you."

Ayman al-Zawahiri, al Qaeda's No. 2, castigated Obama, saying "in you and in Colin Powell, (Condoleezza) Rice and your likes, the words of Malcolm X (may Allah have mercy on him) concerning 'House Negroes' are confirmed."

I'll bet he really doesn't care, and neither should we.

This is all completely independent of any sincere foreign policy effort.

I think it clearly shows the dirtbag trying to inflame racial tensions in the U.S. , and at the same time mocking black Americans who have been able to rise to the top as nothing more than servants of the white man.

Foreign policy with al-Zawahiri should consist solely of good intelligence and the business end of a Hellfire missile.

I think they don't care much about racial issues... it's a holy war to them and they are just using this opportunity to stir the pot since all non Muslim Americans are disgusting to them.

I know I'm always up in arms about racism but here it is clear they are just doing whatever they can to incite anger and hatred.

What? How on earth would it mean that? There hasn't even been an official statement from Obama on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if they just ignore it. It's lame, base-level race-baiting.

Why did you even ask that?

in all seriousness, i think it's an indicator that he will be tested--and perhaps an indicator of how.

I really don't think so. Americans are the ones who are behind with racial issues. As for attacks against us, until the world can see us as anything other than ignorant cowboys who want to police the world we should expect to be tested. I think Obama and his character will do more for our public relations with the world than what his lack of experience in politics may have ever detracted from his capabilities.

I wouldn't be surprised. He helped get Bush elected, after all.

we're behind in certain ways on racial issues, yes--though we're quite a bit better off than a lot of other regions. regardless, though, my point is that the racial tension existing in our country is, i think, something that could be exacerbated by outside elements.

I guess the real question is whether The White House really counts as a "house". Seems like more of a building.

I know I'll get flamed for this but as a minority in this country who actually feels this sentiment I'll voice it in this case. In America it's often black and white. Neither "Black" (to my knowledge) nor "White" is a culture, religion, or tradition. It is all brand new here and while African Americans have created their own culture, a great deal of European Americans have lost theirs and thus been identified by their specific religious view or just their skin color.

Around the world where culture is still something that people live with day to day it is beyond race. It is religious or traditional, etc. Not that I condone the adversity that faces the Palestinians and the Israelis, but it's more than just the color of one's skin. Our Country is very juvenile that way.

Those we deal with across the globe are nationalistic and proud of their CULTURE. Barack is going to prove that we are able to get beyond that narrowminded point of view and move on as a true melting pot.
