Small town elects first transgendered mayor

Earlier this year I posted about Portland electing its first openly gay mayor, the largest city in the country to do so.

Well, that's been trumped by a little town called Silverton, not 45 miles away from Portland. Last week the residents of Silverton elected the country's first trangendered mayor.



Much like how Sam Adams's sexuality was never an issue during Portland's election, Stu Rasmussen's cross-dressing never came up during his bid for mayor.

We grow good people in our small towns.

Damn. Good for him
And kudos to his town, for electing him on issues.

That makes me so happy.

This is pretty damn cool.

I did a couple shows with him a few years ago. Really cool guy, and an amazing guitar player.

I saw this in Key West a couple weeks ago.



But nobody here bats an eyelash at it.
Not a single, big fake eyelash.
Though I don't think anyone employed by the city is going to work dressed up.
Now thats pretty awesome.
