while they're not designed to be replaced, you can do it on all models if you really wanna.

you figure you'd do a little research before you go make a whole movie about it.

people do funny things when they get pissed off. although i am a fan of defacing corporate propaganda.

The movie was cute, but as mentioned, not remotely accurate. You've been able to buy 3rd party batteries forever theyre $50and most of 1G models are still cranking. You can get Apple to do an OEM upgrade for $100. Its not difficult or expensive and you get the same life you'd get out of a cell phone battery or roughly 3 sets of recharchables all for, strangely enough, around $50. Compare that to what it would cost to buy disposables or even a laptop battery. Its a high end cutting edge electronic device, to assume that it has zero maintenece costs over several years is fantasy. I mean really, I want my hovercar too but they don't exist yet and neither does a high output LiON batter with unlimited life. Get a helmet.

iPods still don't support oggs. Even if they did, I still wouldn't buy one just because I wouldn't use all those "features" they've put on there. I don't understand what drives people to eat up all these bloated features in products. Don't people get tired of learning something completely new everytime some gadget comes out?

I find this strange given that OS 10 is built on BSD.

I mean, you either support popular open source initiatives, or you don't.

Reading through that metafilter link though, someone did mention this product. It supports ogg. Looks like a pretty cool product actually.

Ummm, the feature that counts is that its 3500 songs in my pocket. The rest are just menus and a backlight, so i don't know what bloat youre talking about. Everything about the iPod is pretty much centered on finding what you want to listen to out of a large volume of information and quite simply an eight year old can figure it out in about five minutes.

Jesus people. Do you believe everything you see on the internet?

Do yuo think if this was really such a wide spread problem that the only place you'd hear about it is through some guy's amateur video (made on a mac) and his grass roots street campaign?

Is apple paying off every media outlet to not report this?

Did you try and verify any of what this video said before spamming other communities with it?

Gullible.

As any proponent of any product they like or dislike. I mean, come on, there are people who worship MS, IBM, Old Navy, Nike, Sony, etc. and if you were to challenge any of them, I'm sure they'd have the same reaction.

There's probably some particular product you hold in esteem and would banter over someone else's negative criticism.

Unless, of course, you're a nihilist. If so, then I salute you. You bastard. biggrin
