You are all on notice.

Too many threads are being derailed lately. If you cannot ignore those that distract from the discussion then your comments will be flagged and/or deleted.

Thank you.

The CE forum is now basically unmoderated. Unless something is flagged, moderators will not intervene.

My advice is do what your favorite newswire writer does and place anyone who doesn't agree with you on ignore. (It's made my SG experience much more pleasant!)

Any further issues with Newswire writers should be directed to the editor, nicole_powers and/or sean & missy

Thank you,

Your Moderators

Bah. No hotlinking.

Imagine an animate gif of Penn Jillette saying "shut the fuck up".

Then I, hilariously, wrote "Mods to trolls:" ahead of it, thereby giving a humorously terse and condensed interpretation of tuffy's warning.

Guffaws were had.

Who do you think reads the flags? I do. You really think I'm going to warn myself?

Since I posted this thread, I have warned exactly one "conservative" poster and 6 "liberal" members.

I'm tired of the whole thing. Please feel free to act on your threat to leave. Nothing would make my job easier than not having to defend your contributions to the site to your detractors.

That's why I posted it!!!!!!!!!

Jeez - I thought you'd get that. Too subtle?

YOU ARE MY DETRACTOR

one of them anyway

We are called "trolls" because we have the gall to post here on happy lib land, and you want to remove the posts of anyone who engages us? Just fucking zot us all. Close down the conservative group, put "Obama supporters only" in the rules and have done with it

Then sit back and enjoy the Liberal Stepford you've created.

Well, go ahead and make it all about you.

The focus of this is to stem the tide of people posting knee-jerk, image meme responses that are responsible for side-tracking most of these conversations.

The only other solution I can think of is just giving up moderating this forum altogether and abandon any hope of intelligent discourse in lieu of everyone calling each other retarded faggots whilst posting images of ships and trains.

Also, last time I checked, we don't assert any influence over the conservative group whatsoever. That's the whole point of groups -- it's a place or like-minded people to discuss things away from the clutter, noise and dissenting opinions of the forums.

the point is: what's the point of boards?

there's a liberal group for what you want to achieve here on the boards

if that is GENUINELY the case, then I apologise for my kneejerk assumption that this was yet another attempt to close down any conservative voices. It's just the impression I get every time I stick my head above the parapet.

if that's what people want, Tufty....

I mean, it's just a porn site at the end of the day - not the Oxford Union Debate.

As moderator, you just have to referee and keep the conversations vibrant. You have to be neutral and proactive. That's it. Join in with one side, and you've lost it.

In no way do I wish to squash the conservative perspective on the forums. My goal is to maintain relevant discussions without pointless snark and/or turd stirring.

Hell, I left this thread open for discussion against my better judgement.

that's a pretty ridiculous argument. there are no end of posters here ready and willing and allowed by the mods to argue any point you bring up. the posts being zotted are the ones that cross the line into personal attacks or contentless jibes. tuffy is, if anything, keeping the CE boards as unbiased as possible by working to keep the discussions here relatively on-course. he's helping you.

edit: by now, of course, you've recognized your error and apologized. damn my slow typing.

You warned me and I am a "libertarian" not a so called "liberal" or conservative.

I still think you are overreacting, and attacking based on your political opinion rather than on who did what to whom. You know very well that my first post to that thread was on topic and not a personal attack on anyone or anything and in no way violated any of the posted rules of this place, and you pulled it anyway.

A) You have no idea if Lil_Tuffy warned you of if Shalome warned you of if I warned you or if any other member of staff warned you, so don't make the assumption that he was talking about you, either in that post or in this thread, and

B) This is not the place to argue with warnings you've received. In fact, no such place exists. Warnings are non-negotiable and final. If you don't like being warned, pay attention to what the warning says and don't do what you were warned about. If you have a problem with that, you always have the option to leave.

You are entitled to your opinion and it is my prerogative, as a moderator, to act as I see fit whether you like it or not.

In the example you're talking about, I deleted every post but one in that thread because you and/or your comment sent it spiraling off into irrelevancy before the topic reached an entire page. I basically, reset the thread.

Apparently, you're too self-centered and delusional to realize that those actions and this thread are intended to help maintain focus on the discussion as opposed to senseless attacks on those posting.

would it not be easier to remove people who have, time and time again, proven themselves incapable of posting anything but inflammatory crap, than it is to allow it but tell everyone else to not take the bait?

addendum: im taking this thread to mean that trolling and topic derailing comments are still not flaggable offenses, (they arent against the TOS, nor should they be) but that feeding trolls will give you warnings which will lead to a time-out or a zot.

Well, in the words of Stan Marsh, I've learned something today. Firstly, Lil_Tufty is simply trying to keep these boards free of trivial litter - this isn't about censorship. Secondly, it's a tough job and thirdly, we all need to lighten up get some perspective. It's not life or death, but something we all do because we enjoy doing it. When it stops being fun is when we stop being here, but it's the moderation staff who work to try and keep it enjoyable.
