Of course, Focus On the Family once touted an author whose suggestion (among other excellent parenting tips) to fathers was to take their young sons into the shower with them so they could see how much larger Daddy's penis was than theirs.

That's almost verbatim. I will admit I felt a fresh rapid panic when Dobson got on TV after the Palin nomination and said "I'd vote this ticket now." If Dobson had stayed away from McCain even the Palin bump wouldn't have meant much.

That could lead people to believe that that situation may be attractive to gay men. Not saying that it's true or not, but that is where the perception comes from. I believe. the most brazen distortion on this list is the attempt to pin a story appearing in an African community newsletter on the conservatives (although blaming conservatives for the work of Liberal Larry Johnson, must come in close second)

What does this prove? Well for a start, it proves that you can't treat the "conservative blogosphere" as a homogeneous blob and tar them all with the same brush.

Interestingly, the originators of this story (http://africanpress.wordpress.com) keep claiming their tape of Michelle is about to air on a cable news network.

It also tells us of the dire need for professional journalism that covers both sides of the partisan divide. A "fairness doctrine" is shit - whether for right wing radio or left wing newspapers, but if the press isn't investigating Obama then the blogs (in all their amateur glory) will.
