This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage _ with dramatic effect, no doubt _ and tell the story.

"What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags," a Republican official emailed. "We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag."

I'm not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone's patriotism here.

After reading through this article that has been posted in snippets in here and in other threads, I have a few questions for the vocal Republicans that visit these boards.

1) When a person or group distorts the truth as the Republicans did at the convention do you consider that to be telling lies? (If you do not believe the article to be accurate, please show reputable evidence that proves the information in the article is not true.)

2) Does it matter to you that the person who would be Vice President of the United States told lies during their speech at your convention?

3) Why would you approve a person who is lying to you by giving them your vote?

Before you answer, please take note of the following.
The first 2 questions are not about the Democratic party, they are about the Republican party. Mentioning Obama this and Obama that is avoiding the question, not answering the question. If you answer either of the questions by doing comparisions to other parties, I shall assume that you are either logically challenged or unable to understand simple English.

For the third question, you could potentially answer the question because I believe the other options are also liars and I like their lies even less. Which is fair enough, but does acknowledge that you are knowingly voting for people that deliberately lie to you.

Oh, I thought he meant Obama/Biden. You know, those guys who need to travel to their speaking engagements for campaigningz, but need to do so in a way that lets them bring their staff with them, has room for some reporters, and is apporved by the Secret Service as safe. Oh, and something that can get them from place to place in a few hours instead of a few days.

I had the thought that the Obama campaign should've saved them to pass out at campaign appearances. Hard to say you look unpatriotic when you're passing out flags to your supporters at rallies.

So this is an attempt to draw attention from the fact that the Republicans in an unprecedented fit of cognitive dissonance are trying to build a platform from Democratic planks, shore it up with Democratic talking points, and market it with Democratic catchphrases, right?

according to a statement by a spokesman for the DNC, that's exactly what the plan was. the flags, apparently, were "removed without authorization" (read: stolen), not rescued.
