A foreign-born president?
Anyone remember Demolition Man? In the film, Sandra Bullock tells Stallone that since Arnold was so popular congress amended the constitution to allow foreigners to become presidents?

Edit: forgot to post the link

I don't know if Arnold's "popular" these days so much as "not the first person I'd like to see in charge of the nukes".

I don't really think you guys have much to worry about - I doubt they would amend that particular part of the constitution without a good reason. And a good reason would be that he is popular, and capable.

I don't think his popularity alone will cut it. America at large doesn't get to amend the constitution, and the legislature is at least somewhat competent.

But, if he proves himself capable, he'd be a hell of a lot better than Dubya.

If he ever became president that would be one of the only things I would move to another country for.

There have been many attempts to rewrite this law.

Why dont we all see how he does as Governor then make a INFORMED decision.

Some times I just sit slackjawed in front of my computer and ponder the terrible effects of propoganda and tv on the intellects of Americans... at other times I weep.

yeah, Reagan, look how good THAT turned out.

Orrin Hatch wants to change the constitution so we can have a foreign-born Austrian Terminator for president. Nice.

um....wasn't hitler a leftist? National Socialists, right?
Granted, at the furthest extremes, distinctions between polar opposites begin to blur...you could go so far left, you end up ultra-right -or vice versa.

Most of by friends voted for Davis -I don't think anyone actually bit the bullet and voted Bustamonte, but NONE of them voted Arnold...I just happened to think differently. It seems to me like there's more and better new thought coming out of the elephants. Just my opinion, could be totally wrong, and I'd never slam someone for thinking otherwise.

I have met Gov. Dean, though, and he seems really cool. Keeping an open mind on him, despite the whole Wyclef Jean thing...

Why are people complaining about a movie star holding public office? Do people even remember all the famous people that have held office? Reagan, Bono, Ventura (who was a damn good governor btw) etc, etc.

I see no problem with the Governator. Then again, I don't live in California. But I assume it's just as bad as when I did live there back in '96.
