Wow! This makes up for all those cheap ass happy meal toys I got as a kid.

There will still be fundraising interuptions but it will make npr stays around for a while. This is good good news. Yay! for dead rich people!

Does this mean they can afford to pay Garrison Keillor's writers to write something DIFFERENT for Priairie Home Companion? It's the same fucking show over and over and over again, for about 5 years now.

Keillor's written the show completely by himself the whole time.

I have a friend from Minnesota. Don't mention Lake Wobegon or "Fargo" in her presence.

The only thing that bugs me about Prairie Home Companion is that GK has one of those wheezy boogers caught in his nose all the time.

Should have known he writes everything, that's his main talent. How much longer can he do the Powdermilk Biscuits, rhubarb pie, ketchup advisory board schtick though? Ye gods.

I really have not been able to stand PHC for the last 20 years. I remember listening to it in 82 with a hippy-commie while we were smoking up.
The car gize think themselves fabulously funny...
There are some good shows.

Actually, to me, he usually sounds out of breath, like he's sprinted to the microphone or something. His voice slips into this weird whisper a lot.

I can remember PHC from the early 80's also, when it was fresh and poignant. Unfortunately, it hasn't been like that for me for at least a decade now. But I'm glad NPR has gotten such a generous donation, even though they still produce such questionable bits as yesterday's "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Pork Rinds, But Were Afraid to Ask" bit. oink smile

For the anti-phc crowd you can always listen to Whad'Ya Know. Hosted by the short bald jewish wisecracking cheesehead, Michael Feldman. He is always railing GK.
