With all the money Republicans like raising you're probably right. That and they are much better with propaganda because they don't mind lying or telling "half truths".

GHWB had some of the greatest approval ratings of all time heading into the '92 election, and he got his ass handed to him by Clinton.

There's still another year before Election Day, and from where I stand Dubya isn't exactly gaining supporters.

I just hope that everyone who is complaining about him actually go out and vote next November. I'm tired of hearing my age group whine and whine and whine and whine and then stay home on voting day because they think it won't matter. whatever

Uhhh, yeah, what with the booming economy and our concise declaratory position in Iraq our least articulate President is a virtual shoo-in.

You might want to look at the handful of times an incumbent president has been defeated in this century and see how many of those conditions exist today.

I don't have a whole lot of enthuisiasm for the the challengers, but I think you might want to swtich to coffee if you don't think your guy isn't swimming uphill at the very least.

His approval ratings are way down, the economy is shit (despite these recent growth claims, there has been continued loss of jobs), he doesn't have a plan in Iraq, and we're running a half trillion dollar deficit. All of the signs I've seen have pointed to Bush looking very vulnerable next year, assuming the Dem's can put up a decent candidate.

I think the Democrats are just as good at this as the Republican. Thats just the way the game is played.

Guys unfortunately there is another angle to this. Let's look at the 2 most hated presidents, Nixon and Clinton, both won re-election easily. Not a good sign at all.

Uhhh...I don't know what to make of this thread. Bush's poll ratings are at the lowest point of his Presidency so I have no idea how you say "it is looking like" four more years. As to your exclamation of "boo ya!"...is that good or bad? confused

Well, I was cruising this section and saw this thread which I have no memory of starting
robot Then I see the post where it said I was drunk, so that explains it.

It was Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. So I guess I was optomistic seeing how Republicans won governorship of three states in two months, one of those states being the Democrat stronghold California. The other two states are more conservative, but hadn't had a Republican governor in decades. One of those candidates played up his connections to the president, instead of acting like he had nothing to do with him and was trying to draw distance, a la Al Gore in 2000.

Then you add in the weak Democratic field of candidates, the exploding economy, and things look pretty rosy for re-election. Democrats can pretty much write off the South,

Um.......I think LBJ rates a little higher on the "hated president" scale than Bubba.

Dude, Clinton was (and remains) extremely popular. The only reason he is hated by the right-wing is precisely because of his popularity with the American mainstream. Were it not for term limits, Clinton would have been easily reelected for a third term.
