I'm tired of reading about death after death. Iraq can take care of itself now! If they don't give a shit about us there, let's come home. I supported our troops when they fought, now I support their RETURN.

NO MAS MUERTE!!!

There have been quite a few published reports lately that bush is devising an exit strategy from Iraq, replacing american troops with UN troops from Turkey and new native Iraqui army soldiers. Dunno about the time frame, but Bush & co seem to be rattled by the mounting death toll to want most of our troops out in less than a year.

My prediction, FWIW:

We will substantially withdraw American troops from Iraq by June 2004, the government we install will collapse...

and then things will get *really* interesting.

I hope I'm wrong.

In Vietnam, there was the overused phrase, "Peace With Honor". We tried for almost a decade to find a way out that wouldn't leave us looking like quitters and cowards. It didn't work there, and it won't work in Iraq. WE started this little war, and we're the ones responsible for providing some sort of long-term solution. You said that "I supported our troops when they fought"...what are our troops doing now?? I can assure you, they're not sitting on their thumbs. They are STILL fighting.

When you say that Iraq can take care of itself, what are you thinking?? Without American and British troops patrolling the streets, there would be utter chaos. Eventually...maybe next year, maybe next decade...we might be able to pull out, but for the time being we're stuck.

We're commited for now. If we pull out, the hard core extremists will take over and Iraq will become another Afganistan (SP?). You can argue that we should have not gone in, but to cut and run is just plain stupid. Once we are commited to this thing, we have to stick it out.

Just don't ask anyone else to stick it out with you.

This is why we shouldn't have gone to war!!!! America fucked Iraq hard and it is our responsibility to stay and fix things as best we can! We cannot just topple the gov't and leave. That will only makes things worse for us and the iraqis. We owe them, we are responsible for their short term future (next 5 years) and we must do everything we can to help that country return to some form of stable government.

This is a very bad situation (for us, the iraqis, the UN, basically everyone) and we must act responsibly. And we must never forget who put us in this situation. Every american soldier that dies over there is blood on Bush's hands. Every Iraqi civilian that dies over there is even more blood on Bush's hands.

What we can do now, is do everything we can to remove Bush from office before he does something similarly insane to N. Korea, Syria, or Iran. We must replace Bush with someone that has a little more sense of global responsibility.

How about we not elect anymore governors as president for a while because the last few have not been so hot. (carter, regan, clinton, bush. not quite MT Rushmore quality any of them) There are some nice senators running on the democrat side. They actually have some foriegn policy experience, that would be a nice change of pace.

Of course I know they're still fighting, and I will always be behind the plan to remove Saddam. I am just frustrated with how things are going, that's all. Do you blame me?

It's important, if you're going to take a stand against the War in Iraq, to do it in a Suicide Girls forum, like how Michael Moore takes a stand against capitalism in theaters full of people who are there to support his stand against capitalism.

There will always have to be a foreign military presence be it US or UN in Iraq, sure we can all pull out and leave them to their own devices, but it would almost certainly just result in a religious fanatic fundamentalist government which i dont believe anyone in the world would want. They would have been in power for years already if it wasnt for the power Saddam had against them, and i really cant imagine it being any better under that kind of government (no womens rights, very anti-US/Europe etc.). We in the west need to insure that a strong Iraqi government and economy has been rebuilt before we move out, while this will undoubdetly take a long time to do, if we do it, the Iraqi's might at least become more pro west, seeing the good that we can do for the country, if we pull out now it just proves the fundamentalists, and an increasing number of muslims view that the west doesnt care, so they will keep hating us.
