My alarm went off this morning, and the first thing I hear is that
Insurgents shot down a US Chinook helicopter in central Iraq on Sunday as it carried troops headed for R&R, killing 15 soldiers and wounding 21 in the deadliest single strike against American troops since the start of war.
I got up and pushed snooze, went back to bed and pulled the covers over my head. I remember my dad talking about when he was in the army stationed over in Germany ten years after the war. He said the Germans still hated Americans, but they stopped killing our troops. He said that after the war, one thousand or so solders were killed from Nazi loyalists.
In Vietnam, the US would loose 15 soldiers on one patrol, or more. It is awful to hear about the deaths of U.S. soldiers. I have a couple friends that I work with at The Firm who are going back over, and it sucks to think I'll never see them again. But the sad, sobering fact is that those soldiers signed up to learn how to kill. That is what war is. We don't see the positives of what is going on over there. The media coverage sucks....I think.

Feel free to rip me a new one, what the hell do I know.biggrin:

most of them signed up to go to school,,but i agree the news coverage sux big ass and we have been lucky, its sad to say, with only a few deaths everyday. I hate that anyone has to die but i do not believe that the people over there will ever stop killing our guys , to them this is a Holy War and we will never change thier minds.

I knew this would happen, that's why I (and a lot of you probably) opposed the war in the first place. The invasion was easy, the occupation is impossible. And if there were weapons of mass destruction, they are more likely to be in a terrorist hands now than before the war
