It was kinda strange. I was listening to about 5 minutes of Limbaugh (about all a sane person can stand) and it sounded, somehow, like he was blaming the high oil prices on Obama . . . I'm not sure how, exactly, but I am sure the weak-minded folks that make up his regular listeners will latch onto the idea.

well, it's obvious to those of us in Mensa. Obama, in the future, will be elected president, and will use his power to order the creation of a time machine that will allow him to go back in time and ensure that he is elected. this time machine, however, will require the use of the world's entire crude oil supply, which means that future-Obama's secondary mission is to prevent the use of too much oil in the present. to that end, future-Obama has been working hard in the past to raise oil prices in the present, mainly through funding Al Qaeda.

i mean, duh.

And you waited this long to do it?!? Seriously though, I hope you've been pursuing a Roth IRA as well as the 401k, unless the tax rate is lower in the future (as if, one word - BABYBOOM!), you may be shooting yourself in the foot. Most of us have no idea what to do when it comes to the profitable investment, but given the standard formula of low-risk and low-yield, you may want to consider what options will net you similar returns and invest with a conscience (It's a Canadian oriented article, but the advice within holds true to any market). I'm not saying you're cursed, but maybe big oil is bad karma for you, the market, and the world... I know what I'm talking about, I listen to NPR. wink

(Says the man with no retirement or health insurance. surreal )

That's amazing, if it they can pull it off. It'll be interesting to see if any of the more mass-market manufacturers follow them any time soon.

Ah, yes... Nothing like a little missile test to get the price of oil back up and rolling again. Iran Tests Missiles, Heightening Tension With West

TEHRAN, July 9 (Reuters) - Iran test-fired nine missiles on Wednesday and warned the United States and Israel it was ready to retaliate for any attack over its disputed nuclear projects.

Washington, which says Iran seeks atomic bombs, told Tehran to halt further tests. Iran, the world's fourth largest oil producer, says its nuclear programme is only for electricity.

Iran's missile tests rattled oil markets, helping crude prices to rebound about $2 a barrel after recent falls.

Roth IRAs are great but the 5k limit sucks.

I went from 25% to 50% after taking money out of the few and sub-par non-US funds available to us. I have not been in anything US based for more than a year. (I hate being so over weighted in one sector but not much choice)

It is too bad that working for a major financial institution we have a limited number of investment options in our 401k plan.
