It has come to my attention that a lot of my friends who support the United States of American totally, do that without question. Blindly. It really saddens me that they take this thing for granted. They don't bother to look up alternative news sites to at least realize what's being said. I'm sure most of them don't even go to CNN. I read CNN and Conpsiracy Planet. I used to read GNN but I got out of the habit. I just think that people need to be informed no matter what beliefs or "side" they're on.

And then they say "whatever" when I try and help them. I say, "Hey, y'know you should really read up on this.." Dood, at least check out CNN. I'd rather (almost) that they got only one side of the story at least, than no side at all.

Is anyone else experiencing this? These totally estranged people?

I just needed to rant anyways... tongue

There are too many sources of information out there. Depending on their point of view, a person can find some news source that will validate their beliefs, however far to the left or right.

As for trying to convince people that they are "out of touch" or "misinformed" or "blind", what other reaction would you expect?! People don't want to be told what to believe or who to listen to! The best part of being an American is knowing that I don't HAVE to follow a cause. I have the Constitutional right not to give a shit.

Sadly, people really don't care anymore. We live in a fat, bloated, spoiled country with citizens who feel America "owes" them something.

I'm not telling them what to believe.. I'm just saying there are other opinions out there, to which they seem completely blind to. But yes, people just. don't. care. I agree. *group sigh*

George Carlin made a good observation a few years ago:
You've heard the common phrase, "If you don't vote, then you don't have a right to complain about the way things are". Carlin thought it was just the opposite. If you do vote, you really don't have a right to bitch and moan about how things turn out. It's the people that chose not to punch a ballot that are the best critics.

I'm not sure if I agree with that, but it's an interesting thought.

Yeah, it's an interesting thought that hadn't occured to me personally, but I'd really like to hear the logic behind it!
