Where's your god now? Seems he's in cell block C.

From Bay News 9, Tampa Bay, Florida

By The Associated Press
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a man named God was arrested near a Tampa church for selling cocaine.

Authorities began investigating God Lucky Howard in April, and he was arrested on Saturday. Police say he sold the cocaine to undercover detectives in his neighborhood. When officers searched his home, they reported finding another 22 grams of cocaine and a scale.

Jail records show Howard was charged with several counts drug possession and distribution, which include increased charges for being within 1,000 feet of a church, a school and public housing.

He was being held on a bond of $86,500.

The last time I posted this it "mysteriously" disappeared. Maybe god did it.

Thank you bean for the title edit. Didn't know about the proper use of the NEWS tag. Just thought it was something people put on their articles.

This case then renews the old debate between Franciscans and Dominicans over Apostolic poverty.

Beg to differ. God is not an apostle. (Except in so far as he is omnipresent, of course.)

The "apostolic" is not meant to pick out the followers of Jesus, but instead serves as an indication of a continuation of the principles or relationships established by Jesus with his disciples. In other words, God does not need to be a disciple for the issue to be "apostolic" so long as God's stance or intervention lends authority to a specific interpretation of Jesus' message. If God doesn't own a money pouch (or if he lost it on the subway as HOL suggests - obscure reference, ftw) then it legitimizes interpretations of Jesus as impoverished. As such, it renews the Apostolic debate on poverty.

Perhaps to be more concise, I should say that "apostolic" refers to the message and example of Jesus to his disciples.

Note: from a non-semantic perspective, Jesus was lumped in with the apostles for the purposes of the debate. The Franciscans and Dominicans debated whether Jesus and the Apostles were impoverished - not just the Apostles. In fact, the status of Jesus (not that of his disciples) was the central issue in the debate. If Jesus is God made flesh, then he is included despite your accurate assertion that God is surely not an Apostle.

well, nobody said he was christian god lucky howard. evidently his principles trend more towards the human sacrifice end of the spectrum than the "life of pious austerity" end.

How could he? He is infallible. And he worships no one but himself. And, most importantly, he loves you.
