That's how high a stack of one dollar bills equal to the cost of the war in Iraq thus far would be (59,903 kilometers for you metric users). Or to put it another way...one and a half times the CIRCUMFERENCE of the Earth.

Given the thickness of a dollar being .0043 inches a stack of one dollar bills one mile high is approximately $14,734,883. Also given the cost of the Iraq war to date is over $548,500,000,000 and climbing at an astronomical rate, when we divide the cost by the amount of money in a mile-high stack, we come to the number 37, 224. Then, take that number and divide by the circumference of the Earth ( 24,901.55 miles

I thought some people might find this interesting on here.

Coalition troops losses are around 4,109 according to here while Iraqi deaths are anywhere between 85,153 and over 650,000.

Neocons latest grasping at straws argument on why we're in Iraq is that we're fighting them there so we don't have to at home. By that logic, given that there are roughly 300,000,000 Americans, 73,010 Americans have been "kept safe" for every US troop death. OR, to put it another way, one American life is worth between 458 and 3,523 Iraqi lives.

Something to tell your friends/relatives to think about come November.

So, that would be, what, $1800 per person?
Maybe $2400 per taxpayer (I assume children don't pay taxes).
How much was that tax rebate, again?

M hm. Better not to have to pay $3600 each in the first place, perhaps?
