If you thought the ImVotingRepublican.com video was controversial check this new ad out:

Soon to be advertised in a swing state near you! shocked

MoveOn.org

Substantiation of "Not Alex" ad

That "100 years" comment is going to haunt McCain until the end of his days.

Hilarious Republican reaction, via DailyKos:

But Joe Scarborough thinks this ad represents a partisan effort to "get down into the mud."

News flash, Joe: Just because a punch in the face hurts doesn't mean it was dirty. When John McCain said he'd commit troops to 100 years in Iraq, he was asking Mom to give him her best shot. She decked him, and you're practically in tears over it. Boo hoo. Toughen up, dude. Moms don't want their kids deployed in wars. It's just true.

Chuck Todd feels all squirmy in his chair about it, too:

I think it was a borderline shameless ad. Using a baby like that.

News flash, Chuck: All troops start as babies. Every one that gets sent belongs to someone. You don't like it? Take it up with the management.

This campaign won't have any shortage of shamelessness, borderline or otherwise. Here's hoping you two will drop your pearls for long enough to get concerned over... oh, I don't know... 100 years in Iraq, rather than the "use" of a baby.

Frankly, I don't think there are too many people out there who think Bush/Cheney/McCain's "use" for their babies is any less shameless.

well, its clear what needs to be done.

start growing some vat-born-clone-soldiers! if were gonna be in it to win, were going to need to dis-associate ourselves from the horrors of war. Counting on the enlistment of the poor, desperate and hotheaded just isnt enough anymore!

you know, there was a time in this country when families were proud to send their sons and daughters to war against an obvious threat to america and the way that we should be living.

sadly, those sons are mostly gone, and i would hazard to guess that all of those families are gone.

we haven't done good in a 'war' for at least a half a decade.

Is he talking about bosnia or something? Or maybe Afghanistan...because we are getting the shit kicked out of us in Afghanistan. I'm glad that Obama is setting the record straight in saying that Iraq caused us to focus our attention away from the war that really mattered against people that actually attacked us..

Wait a minute....Saddam is dead...The Iraqis have a new government...Things are relatively quiet in Iraq now...Why are we still there? Obviously we have to fufill all the cost plus contracts for KBR and Blackwater!

just for the record, the UN conducted the first Gulf War; the US was merely the chief provider of forces to the UN Coalition. the official mission of the UN Coalition was to remove Iraqi forces from their occupation of Kuwait, returning the country to its rightful government. nothing more.

many thought that removing Saddam from power after kicking his army out of Kuwait was the only real way to remove the threat to Kuwait, but that decision was not made. i do not doubt the Coalition and the UN would not have had too many troubles with doing so, but the agreement was made to not do so and was supported by all parties involved.

And far more importantly, those wars are gone.

Show me another war like WWII (or even Afghanistan), and those sons and daughters will be right back in it.
