The Obama Effect

I thought this was interesting and it seems Obama is stimulating more people here and overseas to become more active in the direction of their countries.

Same with Ron Paul, in getting new people active in politics for the first time and being more involved in the party process and local governments. I know for the first few conventions the GOP was startled and the amount of organization and knowledge Ron Paul supporters had in able to take over the State level conventions and win local office positions. Isn't it as good thing that this election cycle has two candidates that where able to motivate new people into taking action?

My bad, I guess Obama is the only one that can have a positive influence on getting people motivated to take political action.

Once again, Libertarian, getting motivated is good. But don't go for the spear of Odin on the first try. Start with local government seats and mayoral elections before taking on the federal and state elections.

Don't take every attack you receive from the throng personally. That shows a lack of conviction in your candidate, and reveals a groupthink not unlike the Zerg Overmind.

Yes it is. Of course, the difference is Obama actually motivated enough new people to make a difference. wink

I disagree, he might not have gotten enough votes (however, over a million votes for a dark horse candidate is nothing to laugh at) but he did bring forth a political platform/ideology that got people motivated. With this, a lot of people are taking over the GOP in local positions as well as a few people running for State and Federal positions. In having his supporters be motivated by a platform/ideology rather then him himself he ensures that the new people will be working for the same goals (much like was Goldwater did). That isn't to say that Obama hasn't able to get major support in new people (as obvious with his number of voters) but more people seem to support Obama himself rather then what he represents. So in the end even if you don't like Ron Paul or Obama you have to give credit where credit is due and both where able to motivate a new generation in different ways with a different agenda.

You're absolutely right. Ron Paul did help motivate me. He motivated me to help make sure that racist, homophobic, misogynists like him NEVER get anywhere near the White House.

Oh wait, no, I've been active for over 20 years.....

Nevermind.......
