Go tiger. What an awesome game. Kudos to Rocco Mediate, too. His game was unorthodox, above, and beyond a lot of long games I have seen in the past.

It does say:

The first rule of the current events forum is that you *will* be insulted/enraged by something in here, go forward only those of you with the thickest skin.

I'm not insulted at all. Just being a smartass. Although, there are more appropriate venues for this sort of thing, I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. The lack of actual, interesting, well thought out threads is far more disturbing.

When I saw him at even around 15 I thought he was done. I had no idea Torrey Pines was such a difficult course.

Your actions do not match your words.

I realize that sports isn't everyone's cup of tea, but is ignoring a thread really that hard? It was an incredible match.

Which is an example of how real news gets shoved aside for non-events.

I don't understand why sports isn't considered REAL news.

Perhaps we need a Sports Section added to the boards?

What exactly is a lifestyle anyway? I strongly feel that sports is more appropriate under CE than Lifestyle. Lifestyle seems to be things that affect your life, but don't necessary relate to any precise moment in time. This could just be a distinction I alone hold, but it seems appropriate. And um, sports scores are news that occur at specific singularly important moments in the time-space continuum.

It's odd how you hear more bitching about sports scores than comments relating to international election outcomes. shocked

I did see where Tiger talked some mad shit..

Like "this guy has won 2 tournaments" or something like that.

Usually when I think Tiger Woods I think of the Racial draft skit..

Win.

On the subject of sports news vs. other news, sports doesn't come up that much, and it has always been on the CE board. I, for one, don't have a problem with it, as long as it, like any other thread in here, isn't so vague that only people who already know about the story in question understand the post. That's why I didn't complain about the original comment, since it had some text and a link to a story.

Fair enough, I'll try to keep my insane futbol ramblings to a minimum, because I don't feel like providing background for each and every post I may make after watching soccer and imbibing too much brew.

I would like, however, to posit a philosophical CE question: to what extent is background necessary? If I want to post on Estonian politics do I need to provide a history of Estonian political parties first? It's a question of perspective and education. Is the answer that we're working with a primarily American audience here? What do we use to measure how much we may have to educate/provide background for? Or perhaps we can just leave it to those who know/care can respond and those that don't can just move on to something else that they feel is more important.
