$23 billion dollars "may have disappeared" in Iraq

"A BBC investigation estimates that around $23bn (£11.75bn) may have been lost, stolen or just not properly accounted for in Iraq."

It appears that there are lots of court cases pending in the USA.

I expect many of them will remain pending till after November. Has anyone got a list of them, by any chance? It will be interesting to see when they stop being "pending".

But perhaps it's just me. Perhaps this is all old hat and nobody here cares that stupendous amounts of taxpayers' money have disappeared without trace. Maybe some people will claim that this amount of money is peanuts. But $23bn, well, that would be, let me see...

enough to double this package. Presumably lots of people here feel that would have been a good thing?

Or, for the serving American military here, presumably this would have been money well spent.

Or perhaps it could nearly have doubled the amount allocated for rebuilding New Orleans.

Or it could have gone towards green technologies.

Or maybe a whole year's worth of fighting hunger, globally.

Which would win the USA a lot more friends than giving a third of it to Halliburton, and the rest to ... well, who knows?

All I gotta say is that Family Circus "NOT MEEE" kid is one RICH MOTHER FUCKER right about now.

Meanwhile...
