Now that Barack Obama is the official Democratic nominee, it's time for a huge outpouring of progressive support that everyone can see.

So today we're launching a massive nationwide visibility campaign. Together, we're hoping to give out half a million (!) bumper stickers so voters in every town will know how excited people are about Barack Obama.

Can you help out by ordering a FREE bumper sticker and placing it somewhere visible? (You can also forward this email to your friends if you think they'd be interested.) Just click below:

https://pol.moveon.org/obamastickers

If hundreds of thousands of MoveOn members put these stickers on their cars, bikes, doors, windows, and laptops, we'll show that voters all over the country are ready for real change.

These high-quality bumper stickers look great wherever you stick 'em. Click below to get your free bumper sticker, no strings attached!

https://pol.moveon.org/obamastickers

Thanks again for all you do.

Tis true, but I'd rather not have my car vandalized by local idiots.

I'm in Texas and I've seen more Obama stickers than anything else. It has made me happy.

I don't really want to end up on MoveOn,org's mailing list, and you'd be better off giving money to Obama than a 527.

MoveOn.org is the same type of lobbying group that Obama has told his campaign and the DNC to not take money from. The cause is better served if you buy your Obama merch from the campaign.

Of course, you can do whatever the hell you want as well. blush

Well, at least two people ordered bumper stickers. That is certainly better than none.

I doubt that Obama wants MoveOn.org to go away. MoveOn doesn't have to give Obama or the DNC any money to be effective. Their e-mail campaigns, print, radio and TV ads will do wonders for our progressive cause. I donate $10/mo. to MoveOn.org, $10/mo. to Obama, $10/mo to the DNC and $6.50/mo. to my State Democratic Party. It's not a lot of money, but it is something--and I encourage all of you to donate your money and time as well. Every little bit helps.

Perhaps MoveOn will make more bumper stickers for future giveaways.

I can vouch that the car trunk magnet is awesome and still available.

Actually, I would say that Obama doesn't really need MoveOn to succeed at this point.

If anything, it may be a hinderance to his campaign. Many moderate Republicans are turned off by MoveOn in the same way that many Democrats are turned off by the Republican PACs. I'm not trying to compare MoveOn to the horrible Swift Boats Veterans PAC, apples and oranges IMO. But still, if one removes themselves from blinding partisanship, it's easy to see some comparisons here.

Also, if MoveOn's intentions with this bumper sticker is so purely to help elect Obama; why is their logo on the sticker? Obama is in the election, not MoveOn.

Seems a bit of an ulterior motive is at play here: MoveOn trying to increase their influence here?

MoveOn.org has some of the worst ads out there. Taking McCain's 100 years comment literally is extremely disingenuous and makes liberals look bad.

Is it required of the organization, like the way radio and TV ads have to say who created the ad?

PACs are required to and 527 groups are not. The difference being that 527s cannot officially indorse a candidate.

Not to mention their New York Times "General Petraeus or General Betray Us" ad. I think that one was a lot worse then the McCain's "100 years comment" although is that has gotten a bit blown out of proportion and context.

What? He said it. It wasn't out of context. It's pretty standard politics to hold politicians to what they say.

Right. I actually think the ad should have read: "Warning. General Petraeus About To Lie To Congress"

I just take issue with them emphasizing the number, as if the statement was meant to be taken literally. Maybe that is a bit of a nit pick, though.

But regardless, I don't think most can argue that MoveOn.org is informing or heightening discourse.
