This is a tag that growing up used to be attached to the inside of almost all of the clothes I wore ...It was also inside of the car my parents drove (except for the motor!!!!?) Was in every part of my first car ....an Oldsmobile? remember those?
Buying something made in this country used to mean you were taking pride in this country...now you can't even find something to buy that is made in this country...
If someone can make a list of 50 things they have, that say "Made in USA" or the like, I would be surprised...and will send them a lame cap from my hat collection...but limited to the first one...
(Considering my budget and the inventiveness I have seen from SG members)
If I have more then one contender...current counts first, size comes second...and I have my own vegetables made in the USA....
And the said lame cap will no doubt NOT have a "made in USA" tag...

Ooh, ooh! And manufacturers of nuclear weapons too! Coincidence?
Might as well throw in Israel into the mix thought they're a bit under the radar.

Great movie I might add... If Americans only knew the half of it. confused

The other day I was at the supermarket, and they were selling kitchy "Made in the USA" t-shirts. I checked the label. They were made in Honduras.

As the price of oil goes ever up, you might start seeing those tags again.

I was talking to people in Norway at Christmas. Their supermarket fish is caught off the Norwegian coast, taken to China for packaging, and returned to Norway for sale. Totally insane.

Just not worth the effort. But I do have a suggestion. Next time, try thinking.

Most things with the "Made in the USA" label were actually assembled in the US from parts and materials manufactured in another country, or were assembled in another country out of materials manufactured in the US, or were "Made in the USA" by a company that's actually owned by a foreign company.

Many things with an "overseas" brand are actually made in the USA. Like Mitsubishi or Honda, who have big plants in the Midwest.

Gee, living in this global economy sucks, doesn't it? You never know when you're buying something made by a damn foreigner or not!

wink

Most American flags for sale are made in China.

Also, what the holy fuck does buying something with a "made in the USA" label have to do with national pride? So we don't employ as many factory workers anymore, and more people have white-collar jobs. Should I be less proud of our technological and scientific achievements just because the low-wage-earning factory worker sewing the label into my cheap t-shirt wasn't sitting in the US?

SG was entirely made in the USA. There, be proud of that.

Some people might be concerned about buying products outside of the US not because of racism, but because of concern for the labor practices of the manufacturers (i.e., Gap)

I'll agree that that's a concern for some people, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the original poster's argument and you know it.
